𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗜𝗕𝗔? Sundberg DM, Zoder-Martell KA, Cox S. Why WIBA? Behav Anal Pract. 2019 Jun 11;12(4):810-815. doi: 10.1007/s40617-019-00369-y. PMID: 31976293; PMCID: PMC6834794. The article is about the Women in Behavior Analysis Conference (#WIBA) and its efforts to promote gender equality and inclusiveness in the field of behavior analysis. There are 5 important points in this article: The Women in Behavior Analysis Conference (WIBA) was established in 2017 to highlight the accomplishments of women in the field of behavior analysis, provide mentorship opportunities for early career behavior analysts, and address gender issues in the field. The United States ranks 51st out of 149 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index, indicating room for improvement in gender equality in areas such as economic participation, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment. Women in behavior analysis face challenges such as microaggressions, salary disparities, sexual harassment, and discrimination. Recent studies have shown progress in women's representation in behavior analysis, but there is still underrepresentation in areas such as professional recognition, invited presentations, and editorial board appointments. WIBA addresses these issues through education and training, creating opportunities for women in the field, and highlighting the contributions of women in behavior analysis. #WomenInBehaviorAnalysis #WhyWIBA #BehaviorAnalysisInPractice https://lnkd.in/eKHgyc98

Hi everyone, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the reality of the gender gap. Today, women still do not have the same legal rights as men. According to the World Economic Forum, the global gender gap is 68.5% closed, and at the current rate, it will take 134 years to achieve full parity. Additionally, women enjoy less than two-thirds of the legal rights available to men It’s crucial that we focus on global statistics and real numbers rather than generalizing from personal experiences. Reducing the gender gap is a long-term goal that will significantly enhance the global economy and societal well-being.

Don’t miss reading the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap 2024 Report – this is something I look forward to every year to understand the current state and evolution of gender parity globally. Most telling statistics for me below: i. Women represent 42% of the global workforce, but only 31.7% of senior leadership. ii. The largest gender gaps globally are economic participation and opportunity, and political empowerment. #genderparity #whenwomenlead #genderequality

According to the World Economic Forum, if we keep the same progress rate we have now, we'll reach gender parity in 2154. That's in 130 years. International Women's Day reminds us that we all need to do our part to make the world an equal place for all because the reality is that women still face challenges that men don't. Vanessa Fillis and I looked at data across areas like education, leadership, and the gender pay gap and we visualized some key insights to better understand how are we doing and where can we improve.
