🚀 Avoid These Common Mistakes on Your Self-Paced Data Analytics Journey! 🚀 Embarking on a self-paced journey to become a data analyst can be incredibly rewarding. However, several pitfalls can hinder your progress. Here are some common mistakes to watch out for: 1. Skipping the Fundamentals: - Don't rush through the basics. A strong foundation in statistics, Excel, and basic programming(SQL, Python) is crucial for advanced topics. 2. Neglecting Hands-On Practice: - Theory is important, but practical experience is essential. Regularly work on real-world projects to apply your knowledge. You cannot be a data analyst if you don't practice enough 3. Ignoring Data Cleaning: - Data cleaning is a vital step in data analysis. Skipping this can lead to incorrect results and insights. 4. Overlooking Documentation: - Documenting your code and analysis helps you and others understand your work and ensures reproducibility. 5. Not Keeping Up with Trends: - The field of data analytics is constantly evolving. Stay updated with the latest tools, techniques, and industry trends. 6. Failing to Network: - Connect with other data professionals. Networking can provide valuable insights, support, and opportunities. 7. Avoiding Online Communities: - Join online forums and communities. These platforms can be great for troubleshooting, learning, and staying motivated. 8. Focusing Solely on Tools: - Don’t get too caught up in learning specific tools. Understanding the underlying concepts and methodologies is more important. 9. Lack of Clear Goals: - Set specific, achievable goals. This helps maintain focus and track progress. 10. Underestimating Soft Skills: - Communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking are just as important as technical skills in data analytics. 🌟 Stay Motivated and Persistent Remember, becoming a proficient data analyst takes time and dedication. Do you have what it takes to be hired by any brand, company or organisation? That was the question a professor threw at the class during my final days as an MSc International Business Management student. When i got home this question baffles me a lot and i had to sit down and ask myself what do i really need to do to standout as a Management Student. Then this idea of acquiring additional skillset outside the management field struck my mind and after so many research and thought, i decided i will become a Data Analyst. Transitioning into Tech was one of the best decisions have made for myself realising that the modern world is been controlled, ruled and govern by people with the right skillset. I started the journey to become a Data Analyst few months ago, as Data analysis is a field that constantly evolves, and I’m excited about the opportunity to learn new techniques and tools that will allow me to contribute in meaningful ways to a company's success and to the wold at large. In the process of learning, I have encountered so many challenges which the most difficult to overcome for me was having to practice with Excel, getting use to SQL and Power BI. This was totally different from the way I use to learn as majority of my course were based on theories. With commitment, passion and the proper mindset I overcome this big challenge and found myself very loving of my new field and part have choose.

My journey in learning has rarely been a straight line. As a business strategist and data analyst, I’ve faced plenty of challenges—complex data sets, shifting market dynamics, and moments of doubt. But I’ve learned that each challenge holds an opportunity to grow if I stick with it. Before you quit ask yourself this question: What happens if I continue to the end? Every time I push through, I discover insights I couldn’t see at the start. This curiosity keeps me moving forward. ................................ Here’s how I stay on track when the path feels tough: 📌 Break it down:I divide big problems into smaller, manageable tasks. Progress comes easier when the next step is clear. 📌Seek patterns:I look for trends in what works and apply those learnings to new challenges. Patterns lead to clarity. 📌Stay consistent:I make learning part of my routine. Even small, daily actions build momentum over time. So remind yourself: the end of the process always brings something valuable—whether it’s 👉New knowledge 👉A better strategy, or 👉The confidence of knowing you didn’t give up. How soon is too soon to start applying to jobs in a new field? I’m working on starting a new career in Data Analytics. In Data Analytics Accelerator, the online course I’m in, one phrase that’s repeated and has resonated with me ✨“pay to learn or get paid to learn”. ✨ I’m sure a lot of people would rather get paid to learn, but where is the line drawn on when the right time to start applying? For me I have no prior experience in data analysis and will probably never feel like I know enough to apply. I know that’s just my imposter syndrome talking. So would you wait till you complete a certificate? Master a specific skill like Excel, SQL, or Tableau? Or would you wait until you felt comfortable enough in your abilities? How soon is too soon to get paid to learn? What has been your experience when applying? Did you wait or dive right in? I want to know!

POV: MY JOURNEY TO BECOMING A DATA ANALYST I was having so much fun today when it hit me “I got classes”.I think we have gotten to the hot point of the lectures, it’s getting serious now We went into detail on the phase of Data analytics in which we went on a dive deep into all the six phases of Data and also the tools to be used by a Data analyst, intriguing. Since I take four to five lectures a day, I was able to get an introduction to the Stages of the data life cycle. Every day, I learn new things; due to my knowledge of data entry, I thought I knew it all, but there is still more to learn when it comes to data analytics. I hope I stick to this habit for a very long time to motivate myself and keep to my promise. This will be a great breakthrough and a wonderful tool for me as I navigate through this tunnel called life. Every day, I wake up to a bright morning and have nothing to do, thanks to my unemployment (by choice). I need to add value to my life, I need to make myself ready for any situation. Right now, I am in the process of working on my admission to a University here in my state cause of the flexibility of the school, it will allow me to study while also working on more skills to add to my portfolio. It may be a lot of work but don’t fortify yourself with just education, become a jack of all trades and a master of one, choose a pathway and learn other things as you walk on that way, trusts me you will get to the situation you will need to bring that skill tucked away in your knapsack of talent. Thanks for reading. #Dataanalyst #Diary #lectures #newskills

Today, The Data Analytics Accelerator Program turns 3! 🥳🎊🎈 We've had 570 students go through the program. And it's been incredible. I'd like to give you 3 peaks behind the scenes from a business perspective to celebrate 3 awesome years..... 1. Big Curriculum Pivot After 1 year of running the bootcamp, I pivoted dramatically what I taught. I originally wanted to teach people EVERYTHING from scratch to owning your own data consulting business. It's obvious now that is way too much content. But at the time, I wanted to give EVERYTHING I knew. People didn't make too much progress because it was too much information, too quickly. It was honestly impossible to learn that rapidly. I redid the full curriculum & focused only on helping people land their first data job. 2. Happy Moments I seriously have the coolest job. I actually considering becoming a professor at one point in my career (even interviewed for the job). But honestly, this is so much better. I get to help 100's of people find a career they truly love. I wish I had kept the voicemail from one of my students calling me & just bowling in gratitude & excitement of their new data job. It's seriously so cool. I get to watch people change their life. 3. Rebranding Right Now I'm currently rebranding my entire company (Data Career Jumpstart) as when I started the company, I didn't know a ton about graphic design. I still don't. But I've picked up a thing or two. I went through a bunch of names options (Analyst Quest, Data Analyst University, etc), but ultimately have decided to stick with Data Career Jumpstart. It just fits best. Most things will stay the same (or similar), but you'll notice a few tweaks here & there. Especially in the website in the near future (more to come on that). 🙏 Thanks for being a part of this journey. I truly love my job. 🙌 Here's to the next 3 years!
