The recent discoveries of lithium reserves in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and Karnataka, have the potential to significantly change the electric vehicle (EV) market in the country. By reducing reliance on imports, lowering production costs, and supporting government initiatives, these domestic lithium sources could strengthen India’s position as a competitive player in the global EV industry. Additionally, promoting local battery manufacturing and the environmental benefits of sourcing lithium domestically may lead to a more sustainable and self-reliant energy future. As further exploration and feasibility studies are conducted, India is on the verge of a transformative shift in its energy and automotive sectors, positioning itself as a leader in the upcoming green revolution. #Mining #Lithium #EV

Two world giants are vying to control this vital resource, US teams up with India to explore critical minerals in third countries New Delhi and Washington are seeking to reduce their dependence on China, which dominates the lithium supply chain. China currently controls nearly 70% of the global lithium supply, and larger shares of cobalt, graphite, and manganese – other minerals vital for green technology. India recently discovered lithium reserves in Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir, but does not yet produce lithium domestically, relying entirely on imports. Demand for the mineral is soaring in India as it seeks to expand its electric vehicle market, which is projected to grow from $3.21 billion in 2022 to $113.99 billion by 2029. In September, New Delhi unveiled a $1.3 billion PM E-DRIVE scheme to incentivize the adoption of electric cars and two-wheelers. #CriticalMinerals #USIndiaPartnership #LithiumSupply #ElectricVehicles #GreenTechnology #MineralExploration #SustainableEnergy #ChinaDominance #EVMarketGrowth #PMEDRIVE #CleanEnergyTransition #ResourceSecurity #GlobalSupplyChain #BatteryTechnology #CobaltSupply #GraphiteMining #ManganeseResources #IndiaLithiumReserves #TradeAgreements #MineralsSecurityPartnership #AfricaMinerals #SouthAmericaResources #TechForGreenEnergy #ElectricMobility #InvestmentInInnovation #ClimateGoals #FutureOfEnergy

Big update 🎉 India is preparing to open its first lithium mines in the Katghora region. Let’s dive into the details⬇ Recently, the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 announced that India is gearing up to open its first lithium mines in Katghora, Chhattisgarh, following significant discoveries by the 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 (𝐆𝐒𝐈). 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐮𝐠𝐞! But why? Lithium is essential for making lithium-ion batteries, a critical component in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market. This marks a major step toward securing vital minerals for industries such as renewable energy and electric vehicles. The Ministry of Mines has issued tenders to allocate 20 critical mineral blocks across various states, including one for lithium and 𝐑𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐑𝐄𝐄) in Katghora. In fact, in 2023-24, Chhattisgarh’s mineral revenue surged to ₹13,000 crore, nearly 30 times higher than at the state’s formation. Additionally, to boost domestic production, the Indian government is planning financial incentives worth up to $50 million. These incentives will support research and provide technical assistance to miners. Here’s what our state’s Health Minister shared about the development: 👉 He stated that lithium is a crucial metal that will lead both the state and the country toward new dimensions of development. 👉 With the commencement of lithium mining, Chhattisgarh is poised to become one of the leading contributors to the vision of a developed India by 2047. ------------------------ At Bathwal Corporation, with our 39 years of experience, we see this move as a way to reduce India’s reliance on imports while positioning the country as a key player in the global minerals market. This initiative aims to increase domestic lithium production, stimulate economic growth, and support India’s renewable energy and technology sectors. Since 2023, Bathwal Corporation has also been exporting iron ore to China, and we hope to contribute to increasing exports while reducing import dependence. What are your thoughts on this recent announcement? #mining #india #development #gsi

In the recent past I saw a video that a huge reserve of LITHIUM of around 60 lakh Tones is discovered in J & K state. This will not only make India self sufficient in production of Lithium ion storage batteries but will also enable India to export this high priced commodity all over the World. Most of us are aware that these batteries find a vast application in EVs and as a storage device for Wind as well Solar Energy. This will play important role in a very ambitious plan of India to massively reduce its Carbon foot print by generating most of its , Electrical Energy through Wind, Solar, & BioGas etc. Looking at the past Track Record of the present Indian Government, I foresee a huge Growth & Development of Industries and Infrastructure under a very strong & dynamic leadership of Indian PM Shri Narendra Modi in his Third Term. No doubt there could be tough challenges ahead but I am sure PM Modi will find befitting solutions. The greatest challenge for India in my opinion could be to ensure Base Metals & other commodities security for its Industrial and Energy sector Growth. India is not only self sufficient in all grades of Steels but is also a large exporter. For uninterrupted Industrial & Energy sector Growth India will have to create Base Metal Security. Exotic Base Metals like Copper, Nickel, Cobalt, Lithium, Chromium, Molybdenum, Zinc, Magnesium, Aluminum, Titanium and Silicon therefore creating their supply source is very essential. Fortunately for India there are well managed and well groomed PSU companies like NMDC, GMDC, NALCO, NLC India, Hindustan Copper, MOIL, ONGC, OILINDIA, SAIL, COAL INDIA etc. These companies have a Vast Experience, Resources and Expertise in Rapid Benefaction and Exploration of all kinds of Mineral Resources like Metals, Coal & Oil etc. and therefore GOI should entrust these companies for mining huge Reserves of newly discovered Lithium and other Natural Resources within and outside India.
