It's "Derby Day". Will you be watching? Many horse tracks are shifting to a "turf track", The Kentucky Derby track for the today's race is a dirt track. This mix of the material is about 82% sand, with the rest being around 16% silt and 2% or less clay. Churchill Downs also has turf track for a variety of other races that are hosted there, which is maintained to a very high standard for it's overall appearance and the health of the horses running on the turf track. All grass isn't the same. Growing grass is a science. The grass track at Churchill Downs is made of a mixture of Kentucky Bluegrass and Kentucky 31 Fescue, and even fall fescue. We apply the same principles when working on your lawn, checking your soil first, our 7 & 12 step programs, top dressing to level the lawn, and the grasses we use to create a dense, easy to maintain and beautiful lawn.
