As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, it’s important to remember that the contributions of the Hispanic community extend beyond these 30 days. This celebration began in 1968 as a week-long observance under President Lyndon B. Johnson and was expanded to a full month in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. It honors the independence days of several Latin American countries and recognizes the history, culture, and achievements of the Hispanic community. But Hispanic heritage isn’t confined to just one month—it is a vibrant part of the fabric of American life all year long. Here are three of the most significant contributions of the Hispanic community to the United States: 1️⃣ Economic Growth & Innovation: Hispanic-owned businesses are among the fastest-growing in the country, driving innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation across industries. 2️⃣ Military Service: Over 1.5 million Hispanics have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, defending the nation with valor and dedication. 3️⃣ Arts & Culture: Hispanic influence enriches our cultural landscape, from music and literature to food and festivals, fostering unity through shared experiences. While this month serves as an important reminder to reflect on these contributions, let’s continue to recognize and uplift the Hispanic community throughout the year. Inclusion, respect, and appreciation should never be limited to a designated timeframe. #HispanicHeritageMonth #InclusionMatters #CelebrateYearRound #DiversityAndInclusion

𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: 𝐀 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 Hispanic Heritage Month may have ended yesterday, but let’s not forget that the celebration doesn’t stop there. Hispanic culture, like so many others, is woven into the fabric of our society, contributing to the vibrancy and richness that makes our country so beautifully diverse. While the designated month helps to shine a light on the history, contributions, and resilience of the Hispanic community, our commitment to honoring and supporting our communities should be a daily practice. True equity means ensuring that every voice is heard and that the diversity around us is reflected in opportunities, representation, and meaningful inclusion. Let’s celebrate Hispanic heritage every day, alongside the many other cultures that make our world stronger. Let’s move from words to action—promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do. Because diversity is not just something to recognize for 30 days, but a source of strength to uphold year-round. #HispanicHeritage #DiversityAndInclusion #CelebrateEveryDay #ActionsForEquity #StrongerTogether

September 15 to October 15 is celebrated nationwide as National Hispanic Heritage Month. It traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans. More than 500 years of Hispanic and Latino history and heritage can be found in national parks or shared through National Park Service programs and partners in communities across the country. Hispanic generally refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is from a Spanish-speaking country. Latino, Latina, Latine, or Latinx, generally refers to a person who is from, or a descendant of someone who is from, a country in Latin America. It is often a personal choice which term is used by an individual. There are a lot of connections between Latino and Hispanic American identity in the US, so National Hispanic American Heritage Month celebrations often include Latino Americans as well. Check out all the history, venues, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino/a/x Americans of past and present on the National Park Service Hispanic Heritage Month webpage: https://buff.ly/2SHGcTK #HispanicHeritageMonth #EncuentraTuParque #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth #Culture #Inclusion #DEI #Diversity #HR #InclusionMatters #Workplace #WorkplaceCulture #HispanicHeritageMonth #CelebrateDiversity #LatinxHeritage #CulturalCelebration #HispanicHeritage #LatinoHistory #Inclusivity #LatinoCulture #HeritageAndHistory #HelpingPeopleWorkBetterTogether

Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture. While we celebrate Hispanic and Latino communites beyond this month, from September 15 to October 15 we give extra recognition to the many contributions made to the history and culture of the United States, including important advocacy work, vibrant art, popular and traditional foods, and much more. Hispanic Heritage Month provides an additional opportunity to explore the incredible impact Latinas and Latinos have had on the United States for generations. The Latino presence in America spans centuries, predating Spain’s colonization of what is now part of the United States, and they have been an integral part of shaping our nation since the Revolutionary War. Through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the Treaty of Paris that followed the Mexican-American and Spanish-American wars, the United States gained territories in the Southwest and Puerto Rico. This incorporated the people of this area into the United States and further expanded the presence of Hispanic Americans. — Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino #Diversity #DiversityAndInclusion #inclusion
