This is great #nonscalevictory with my client Luke. When we first started working together, he had a very specific performance goal in mind. He wanted to serve as a Navy Corpsman attached to a Marine Corps Infantry unit. His only issue with this pursuit was he had to be able to pass both the Navy and Marine Corps PT Test, which required a pull-up test. The problem was he couldn’t do a pull-up, and only had 5 months to prepare before he was supposed to ship out. We immediately set expectations of what his training program would have to look like both when training in person and on his own in order to be physically ready by the time he left. We had to monitor his nutrition intake to assure he was getting enough nourishment and nutrients to assist peak performance, without an excessive amount of calories causing weight gain and making his task that much harder. Now, something that is important to highlight here, is that sometimes it’s important to go deeper with your goals. For Luke, this was more than fitness, or a body composition goal. Sure those things are all well and great. But when you are able to set goals that are also in alignment with the type of person you want to become. That’s when dramatic transformation occurs. That’s exactly what happened with Luke.. He went from being able to do 0 to 12 pull-ups in 5 months! This is the type of accomplishment that I am most proud of. Having trouble setting goals that keep you accountable? Send me a DM and we can see what your vision is, and align a completing pathway to get you there that keeps you consistent and focused! #habitsforsuccess #dailyhabits #fitnesscoaching #healthylifestyle #holistichealth #bbbaccredited #localbusiness #fitness #fitnessjourney #fitnessmotivation #fitnesstraining #personaltrainer #personaltraining #azpersonaltrainer #azpersonaltraining #azbusiness #azpersonaltrainers #smallbusiness #tempe #ahwatukee #chandler #tempesmallbusiness #smallbusinesstempe #azsmallbusiness #azsmallbiz #ConsistentPersistence

Another installment of Feel Good Friday. Veteran’s Day was this Monday – this article focuses on veterans in manufacturing applying their skills specifically to roles in safety. And also speaking to how veterans add value to organizations as the transition to civilian work and how companies can work to make that transition smoother. Thanks to all of those who serve and served. #feelgood #happyfriday #veterans #manufacturing #supplychain

My morning read… the famous Navy SEAL training program is based on the experiences and observations of Draper Kauffman while serving as a ambulance driver on the Maginot Line in 1940. Kauffman saw the brotherly team that was the Corps Franc. They were an elite team of volunteers who infiltrated behind enemy lines and disrupted operations. They worked in stealth. Taking that observation Kauffman started a training method that became the SEALs. Importantly Navy SEALS train in teams. The dreaded Log exercise, carrying and moving a 250lb log for 90 minutes, depends on team members being so attuned to each other that when one falters, the team automatically adjusts to carry the load. Think about that. If someone on the team falters everyone else is so completely focussed on the task that they sense that drop and without talking adjust. In our teams do we know each other so well and trust each other so much that when someone falters we simply support in the moment? Debriefing can happen later but in the moment the team adjusts to ensure the job gets done. The foundation is creating cohesion through shared experiences.

If you have not read David Goggin's book "Can't Hurt Me" it should be required reading if you are in sales. Goggins is the only person to have completed US Army Ranger School, US Air Force Tactical Control Party Training, US Navy SEAL Training and attempted Delta selection not once, but twice. Each of these programs are nearly impossible on there own, but Goggins not only conquered them all, he also served honorably, undertaking a combat deployment to Irag in 2001 with Seal Team 5. Coggins is a national hero and if you haven't read his book its an awesome read. His feats in endurance events will blow your minds. In 2013, David Goggins broke the Guinness World Records title for most pull-ups in a 24 hour period. 4030 pull-ups in 17 hours, 16 minutes. If your in sales his book is a masterclass of endurance, mental toughness and pushing past perceived limits. Reading "Can't Hurt Me" will inspire you to overcome obstacles and grow your career.

🚁🛫🪖 Warfighter Wellness: Training TACAIR and Rotary pilots and aircrew to self manage their spine health optimizes performance in the fleet. Training the individual with the pain on What to do, How, When, Where and Why empowers the pilot to be the Boss of their pain. Out in the fleet, medical access for spine needs may not be readily available. 💪🏻💪🏻 Imagine a world where each pilot, aircrew, and maintainer know what yo do for neck pain and low back pain, and they do it within an hour of noticing the pain. The pain is gone. 🏝️No risk of a down chit. 🏝️Immediate relief rather than waiting for medical appts. 🏝️Using care they would have been taught by a spine specialist. 🏝️Having a toolbox that packs in their helmet bag and is available 24/7. 💪🏻 We discovered that we could train 175 pilots, aircrew and maintainers in 2 business days. It takes me a month to see that many people 1:1 in the clinic. https://lnkd.in/gkCZ289j Pilots want to fly. Passing along the information that keeps them healthy and mitigates pain is an easy day. VAQ-135 Pilot deployed reported: “I don’t always hurt, but when I do them, my pain goes away.” Blue Angels pilot: “I almost reached out, but did what you taught us after my flight, and that took care of my back pain.” Keep the spine in neutral, and turn the muscles on to decrease the pain, and support the joint. Imagine a world of naval aviation where you had all you need to treat your spine pain in your helmet bag. In my life I've had many ask, and I know others wonder, what makes the Marine Corps unique and why do we insist on calling ourselves Marines, not Soldiers? It's because, seen below, to become a Marine is one of the hardest things to do in the US military. A US Marine's basic requirement, The Crucible, is in the top 3 hardest training in the US armed services with Navy Seal and Army Ranger training. The difference is EVERY Marine must go through the Crucible before they can graduate Boot Camp and earn the title of a US Marine. Not all make it but if you do, you never forget it. In contrast, the Navy's "Seal"and Army's "Ranger" training are specialize for advanced combat readiness in their branch and not part of their core competencies. You must be selected to go to those and very few are. The mission of all 3 trainings is to be first to the fight and ready under any geographical condition using any form of mobility available. This is why we call ourselves Marines and not soldiers and the same reason Ranger call themselves Rangers and Seals called themselves Seals. Not to disparage any other branch of our beloved armed forces. Everyone of us signed the line to give our life for a greater cause and that makes everyone who served selfless heroes. Our third Cummins veteran for our Memorial Day highlight is Jerry Vest, one of our Maintenance Technicians working behind the scenes to keep all of our offices and facilities running smoothly. 💪 – Service branch: Air Force – Duration of service: 22 years – Highest rank attained: Master Sergeant (E-7) – Commendations: Outstanding Unit Award, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal – How has your service benefitted you as a person? “Being in the service has taught me self-discipline, how to understand the big picture and accomplish small tasks to contribute, and how to mentor new Airmen and help them grow into adulthood.” – How has your service affected your ability to work with military-involved consumers and families? “I don't work with consumers, but I do with providers. Treating others with respect and dignity is very important, as is knowing that every job matters, from transportation to CEO. Teamwork is very important in the military but also in the private sector. You have a role in a much bigger mission, and you have to realize that in order for the mission to be carried out.” #MemorialDay2024 #CumminsVets #ProudOfOurVets #SaluteToService #HonorOurHeroes #ThankYouVeterans

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day Holiday this past weekend. I know we take that day to remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our country. I would like to also think about the contributions that military members make to the field of EHS today. I have read a few articles on LinkedIn these last two weeks, on how todays EHS Professionals started their EHS journey in the military. I believe the field of EHS requires a lot of discipline and structure and the military teaches you that. What are your thoughts?
