Did you know that nearly one-third of eligible voters have chosen not to participate in recent elections? This statistic highlights the significant number of citizens who either do not vote or whose votes are invalidated, both of which can impact election outcomes. A voter turnout of around 71% is not necessarily "bad," but it is lower than ideal, especially in a country where voting is a crucial democratic right. Various factors, including voter apathy, dissatisfaction with the political process, or logistical barriers, can influence voter turnout. This can be concerning for the health of our democracy. Higher voter turnout typically suggests greater public engagement and legitimacy for the elected government. It's important to research the candidates and, most of all, ensure that you exercise your democratic right by casting your vote to elect a leader who has the best interests of the citizens at heart! #YouthAgainstCorruption #YouthForChange #YouthEngagement #FightCorruption #AntiCorruption #SriLanka

#Georgia residents, did you know that recent legislation is making it easier for voters to be removed from voter rolls and limiting your right to vote? *Voter rolls are the lists of actively registered voters who can vote in an upcoming election within a particular jurisdiction* 🗳️ Senate Bill 189 enables challenges to voter eligibility and shortens the time to remove voters from registration lists, raising serious concerns about voter suppression. 🗳️ Other bills like House Bill 974 and House Bill 1207 allow public access to ballots and tighten restrictions on non-citizen involvement in election jobs. These changes could impact how and who gets to vote in upcoming elections. But don't let these bills discourage you—let them fuel your commitment to voting even more. Remember, your vote puts the people in office who make these laws, and staying informed is your first step toward action. Follow us for more updates in our new Policy Pulse series, and visit www.vote411.org to learn more about these laws and additional voter resources for your state! #PolicyPulse #VoterSurpression #Voting2024 #2024Elections #Vote2024

In general, the vast majority of American voters support the basic principle that candidates have an obligation to accept the results of elections, with 88% saying that losing candidates have an obligation to concede once the results are certified in every state and 12% saying they do not. But that rises to 20% among registered voters who support Trump, compared with only 3% who feel that way among Harris supporters. A 56% majority of registered voters say they have just some or no trust in the Supreme Court to make the right decisions on any legal cases relating to the 2024 election, little changed from January. There's a substantial political split, with Trump supporters roughly twice as likely as Harris supporters to express at least a moderate amount of trust in the court, 61% to 31%. Trust in the court lags among younger voters, with just 8% of voters younger than 35 saying they have a great deal of trust in the court to make decisions on the 2024 election, compared with 21% among voters ages 65 or older. Black voters (9% a great deal of trust), Democrats (4%) and liberal voters (5%) also express minimal trust in the court.

As the 2024 presidential election draws near, a new poll further illustrates the ever-growing divide among Americans about the nation's trajectory and the critical issues influencing voter decisions, including almost a quarter of Republican Donald Trump supporters saying that he should declare election results invalid and "do whatever it takes to assume office if he loses" in November. The survey of over 5,000 Americans reveals that a majority reject political violence and perceive democracy as being under threat. However, a sizable percentage of Americans, particularly Republicans who view Trump favorably, still support political violence and deny the legitimacy of the elections. The pivotal role of voter turnout in shaping the 2024 election outcome: https://lnkd.in/dtp-6y8t As 29 May approaches, with widespread speculation surrounding the potential performance of political parties in the upcoming national and provincial elections, the pivotal determinant of success rests on getting voters to the polling stations. Those parties with the ability to effectively mobilise their voter base and inspire supporters to cast their ballots may hold an advantage over those that fail to engage their supporters and neglect to prioritise voter turnout initiatives. A low voter turnout scenario – in which only the most committed voters participate – could see between 41% and 43% of registered voters heading to the polls. In a medium turnout scenario, the model indicates that the voter turnout rate may be between 57% and 59%. On the high end, Ipsos’ projections suggest that as many as 74% to 76% of registered voters could cast their ballots if voter enthusiasm reaches its peak.

As of October 2024, 35 states required voters to present identification in order to vote at the polls on Election Day, but many states provide for exceptions to these rules. Of these states, 25 required voters to present identification containing a photograph, with certain exceptions, and 10 states did not explicitly require photo identification. The remaining 15 states did not require voters to present identification in order to vote at the polls on Election Day. https://lnkd.in/eaZnub8Z Party 27 Republicans 23 Democrats The Republican Party picked up one seat in the 2022 elections, in Louisiana. Democracy works best when it treats all voices equally. Democrat and Republican voters are important, but so are Arizona’s 1.4M+ Independent voters. Our taxpayer-funded elections should give all voters in Arizona the same opportunity to participate.
