The theme of the first debate was focused on how can we create a greater interaction between citizens - DES and public administration? An initial phase of discussion and listening was followed by a second phase of defining actions which were then shared by a spokesperson. The second moment of world coffee had as its theme that of imagining DES in 2030 and defining the mapping of internal critical issues and the current system also aimed at the creation of new DES and new pilot projects in the area. Our director Simonida Kacarska, PhD was advising the EESC - European Economic and Social Committee in the preparation of the exploratory opinion on paving the way to EU accession for the Western Balkans. The document outlines the strategic priority of facilitating the Western Balkans' accession to the EU, emphasizing a credible and merit-based process. The opinion stresses the importance of clear guidance on conditionality, early market integration, and regional cooperation, alongside the acceleration of the green transition and social dialogue. Addressing bilateral disputes, enhancing EU capacity for managing enlargement, and engaging youth are highlighted as crucial elements. If there is the General Assembly First Committee, it is likely that there are also more subsidiary bodies of the General Assembly. The third committee we represent is the General Assembly Second Committee (GA2). Miriam Büttner will represent Senegal in the GA2. The tasks of the GA2 are mainly related to finance and cover eleven interconnected issue fields. To simplify, the GA2 is also known as the Economic and Financial Committee. Miriam will be discussing the Promotion of Sustainable Tourism and Eradicating of Rural Poverty to Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as the two topics at the conference in New York. Similar to the GA1, the GA2 normally consists of all 193 member states. Additionally, it receives reports from the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) to evaluate actions concerning the environment at the world’s highest level of political decision-making. Today there are only 22 days left!

Within the scope of the European Union Scholarships Project, I successfully completed the certificate program on 'Migration and its Dimensions' organized in cooperation with International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), Marmara Belediyeler Birliği, Hasan Kalyoncu University and Ankara Üniversitesi. This program enabled me to better understand the complex nature of migration and its impact on society and industry. I will integrate this knowledge into my professional practice to create more inclusive, effective and resilient systems. Migration is now a fact of life. #MigrationEducation #MigrationAndDimensions, #MigrationIndustry #CommunityEngineering

We're very happy to see in Ursula von der Leyen's mission letter to Transport Commissioner-designate Apostolos Tzitzikostas: - A request for him to follow up on the European Declaration on Cycling and publish a progress report by the end of 2025 - To produce a 'Sustainable Transport Investment Plan' outlining a strategic approach in transport decarbonisation solutions (hint: that includes cycling) - To promote a 'resilient and competitive tourism sector' (hint: that includes cycling tourism and EuroVelo) - To put forward proposals for 'clean corporate fleets' (hint: that means cargo bikes for business logistics) - To focus on the 'social dimension of mobility' (hint: that means more cycling for all, especially for people stuck in transport poverty) Unfortunately the letter tells the Commissioner-designate to work on "hyperloops" - even though this is a fully dead technological concept. Why do policymakers keep referring to hyperloops? They are failureloops! On the proven solutions, European Cyclists' Federation is ready to work with the next Transport Commissioner on all this - and more! Read the letter 👉

Exciting opportunity for Arctic youth! Norway is hosting the first Arctic Council Chairship conference for youth by youth: The Arctic Youth Conference 2025 (24-26 Jan 2025 in Tromsø).🎉 This initiative resonates deeply with my experience in the Emerging Leaders program, where I participated in a panel on supporting youth entrepreneurship in the North. What hit me the hardest was the stark contrast between our 'North's. I'm especially eager to see increased representation from Canadian youth in such forums. Our young people face unique challenges compared to their counterparts in other Arctic nations, and it's crucial that their voices are heard. Another lesson I took from that experience was the importance of building stronger relationships that run east to west. We need to stop looking to the south for solutions for the north. This conference is an amazing way for our young leaders to connect with counterparts from across the north, fostering collaboration and shared understanding. As community leaders, we have a responsibility to support and empower our youth, ensuring their perspectives shape the future of the Arctic region. This conference is an excellent platform for that purpose. If you're a young northern change-maker or know someone who is, I encourage you to get involved. Submit session proposals and help craft a program that truly addresses the challenges and opportunities in our rapidly changing Arctic. Let's work together to amplify the voices of Canadian Arctic youth on this international stage. If you have any questions about my experiences or how to get involved, please reach out!
Are you a young Arctic change-maker eager to contribute your voice to shaping the region's future? Or do you know an Arctic youth, young professional, student, or Indigenous knowledge holder who fits the bill? Norway is hosting the first Arctic Council Chairship conference for youth by youth: The Arctic Youth Conference 2025 📅 24-26 Jan 2025 📍 Tromsø 🇳🇴 We want young people across the Arctic and beyond to get involved in shaping the program. Submit your session proposals and contribute to making this a platform for youth to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly changing Arctic region.
