SEO isn’t a dark art. There are plenty of agencies that would like you to think it is though. It’s in their best interest to keep you in the dark and make you feel like they’re doing the impossible - some secret magic ritual to make your website visible. But the truth is, that’s just not the case. All SEO is a list of tactics that make sure your website is user friendly, high quality, and relevant. Imagine the internet is a huge library, and all the websites are books. Google has thousands of little librarians (called spiders), and every time someone comes into the library and asks for a book, those librarians scuttle off to find what they’ve been asked for. If someone asks for a book by name, it's easier for the librarian to find it. But if they just describe the type of book they’re looking for, then the librarians will be out there looking for the very best match. Here’s what they’re looking for: Something that’s well-written and answers the searcher’s questions Something that’s written by an expert Something that’s easy to read and navigate Something that’s trustworthy. When we do SEO for you, we go through your website with a fine tooth comb to make sure that all these things are there in abundance, so that when Google’s spiders come and crawl your website, it becomes a first choice option for their searchers.

Imagine asking a newbie, "What is SEO?" They might simply say 👇 SEO is about making a website show up higher in Google search results. It helps more people find the website. But If you ask an expert, "What is SEO?" their answer would be this. SEO is all about Crawling, Indexing and Ranking these are the main 3 pillar that every SEO must work on. Your job is to ensure that Search engine can easily find it. 1) Crawling ( find your website ) 2) Indexing ( understand your content ) 3) Ranking ( Show your content ) Let's break it down with a relatable example - a librarian. 1) The librarian collect many books from the market. This is called crawling. 2) The librarian then arranges these books in different categories in the library. This is called indexing. 3) When someone asks for a book suggestion, the librarian gives a list of best books that fit what the person needs. This is called ranking. When you are doing SEO for a client or building a niche website, keep these three things in mind. If you miss even one step, you won't get a good ranking. This is where many beginners make mistakes. Good luck🤞

The Importance of Alt Text for Image SEO While image filenames often lack descriptive power (e.g., "1.jpg"), alt text provides a crucial opportunity to communicate an image's content to search engines and users relying on screen readers. This information helps search engines understand the webpage's context and improve image ranking. A recent website project I undertook involved a client with numerous images but minimal written content. Despite requesting content creation, I proceeded with optimizing existing elements. By strategically adding alt text to the images, I observed a significant increase in impressions for targeted keywords within a week. This case study demonstrates the impact alt text can have on SEO, even in the absence of substantial website copy. Key Takeaways: Alt text plays a vital role in image SEO. Descriptive alt text enhances search engine understanding of webpage content. Alt text benefits users who rely on screen readers. Incorporating alt text is a fundamental SEO practice that can significantly improve image visibility and website ranking.

SEO gets your website seen by people searching for what you offer. Imagine a search engine as a librarian. Good SEO makes your site clear, organized, and relevant, so the librarian (search engine) recommends your website (book) to people (searchers) looking for your topic. This leads to free, targeted traffic that can grow your business.

What are some strategies for improving search engine rankings for a website's content? There are two main areas to focus on to improve your website's content's search engine rankings: on-page SEO and off-page SEO. On-page SEO refers to optimizing the content and structure of your webpages to be easily understood by search engines. Here are some key on-page SEO strategies: Keyword research and optimization: Identify relevant keywords that users are searching for and incorporate them naturally throughout your content, including titles, headings, and the body text. However, avoid keyword stuffing as it can hurt your rankings. High-quality content creation: Create informative, engaging, and valuable content that solves user problems or answers their questions. Content structure and formatting: Use clear headings, subheadings, bullet points, and images to break up text and improve readability. Technical SEO: Ensure your website is mobile-friendly, has fast loading speeds, and uses a clean and optimized code structure. Off-page SEO focuses on building authority and trust for your website through external factors. Here are some important off-page SEO strategies: Link building: Earn backlinks from high-quality, relevant websites. Backlinks act like votes of confidence for your site in the eyes of search engines. Local SEO (if applicable): If you're a local business, optimize your Google My Business listing and citations across directories. Brand building and social media: Increase brand awareness and engagement through social media and online communities. This can indirectly improve your search rankings. Some SEO advice please... When updating a website should I edit the current pages, even if the structure and content will be different, or create a new structure and unlist the old pages? If the latter, can I keep the same slug or will I need to rename the new pages? Thanks 🙏
