At times I wonder why some organizations require a Visual Merchandiser when they don't even know their importance and does'nt value their existence. For example if they require travelling for store visits,market surveys or vendor. meets then all other departments starts gossiping and spreading rumours like VMs are just travelling around to have fun and hardly have anything to do.What they dont see is their hardwork,their creativity,patience,skills which creates an overall impact of look and feel of the store and also brand identity.And when they don't travel and sit in office then they are tagged as VMs have nothing to do in office rather than sitting and doing timepaas. There are certain events and meetings where VMs are not even included to be a part of it whereas all other departments are invited.There are certain activities like visual executions,new store openings,preparing BOQ etc which VMs don't decide. Would really like to know from VM community if they face such challenges ever. #visualmerchandisers #VM

6 weeks in – what I’ve learnt 6 weeks ago I left my busy Leeds Head Office job and set up JKC – my merchandise planning and consulting business. 6 weeks in here are a few things I’ve learnt. # The Linkedin community are a really encouraging and supportive bunch. I’ve had calls with strangers who have generously given me their valuable time to offer advice and encouragement # Most good ideas come when you are not at your desk. Getting out and about every day is not only good for your wellbeing but also for your business. # Many people don’t know what merchandise planning is – “not quite, that’s visual merchandising – more to do with planning and analysis”. # Explaining the relevance and benefits of retail merchandising to those who have never worked with a merchandiser is tricky. When you know you know! # Most people don’t reply to direct messages (I used to be one of those people). Thank you to those who have. # Don’t underestimate the power of your existing network. The people who have worked with you know your work and your worth. There have been a few “down” days and unproductive days but most have been full of new people, businesses and challenges and I’m loving it! Part 1: Purple Wave Campaign by Magnus Group At LuLu Group International The Purple Wave Campaign created and implemented by Magnus Group for L'Oréal across Carrefour and LuLu Group International Stores in the UAE. Given the intricacy of the design, our team was able to pull the execution of the podium along with other in-store elements with excellence! We thoroughly enjoyed through the journey of this project as a team which was turned around in just a span of 7 days from finalizing of design to ground implementations. Each FSU is crafted for optimal product visibility, featuring glorifiers, routine displays, with a 3D mock up. We also produced a tester unit along with the FSU’s unit to boost customer engagement. In September I was given the opportunity to do work experience as Visual Merchandiser at H&M during the launch of their A/W 24 collection. I developed a range of skills in relation to the presentation of garments in store, organisation and planning. Tasks I completed include: ⭐️Learning how garments are displayed in each department depending on the theme. ⭐️Reviewing “Commercial Information” sent from head office to guide the allocation of garments to different areas of the store, depending on the theme i.e. colour, style, product and price. The photo below is the “Nonchalant” theme. It included a range of different garments of similar colours and patterns. ⭐️Steaming special edition garments to make them look presentable on the shop floor. ⭐️ Gaining insight into customer tracking; information from research on how customers shop in the store, for example, which departments attract the most customers. ⭐️Using excel spreadsheets to plan daily tasks for each week and setting deadlines.
