70% of finance transformations are either less impactful or moving slower than expected according to Gartner's Top Priorities for CFOs 2024.    This same report also said that CFOs who co-lead digital delivery are far more likely to realize digital’s benefits than those who abdicate digital responsibility or simply collaborate with IT.   But how, with the myriad responsibilities that CFOs already have, is "co-leading" possible?    One way is to find experts in financial transformation to be your right hand. If you've been struggling to find the individuals to maintain, update, or lead digital delivery of an EPM or ERP system, here are some tips:    1. Discover whether the talent pool is truly as limited as you think it is. If internal recruiters are working on this search, find out how they are sourcing for candidates. Often recruiters receive limited training on how to source, so you may find that with some guidance they can broaden the candidate pool.    For example, get specific and let the recruiter know what companies you’d like them to recruit from. Keywords searches are not enough to uncover all the passive talent in competitive talent markets.   2. Consider prioritizing skills that can not be trained (big picture thinkers, great at creating alignment among different parties). Whereas that hard skill (Workday/Adaptive expertise, Anaplan background, OneStream certification, etc) can be acquired/trained.    3. Consider geography; there are parts of the US that have a higher number of individuals with the talent you seek and Quorum Recruiting tracks what parts of the US has this talent. If you can, perhaps open up your search to other geographies.
