A weekend of memory and where May sneaks a preview of summer ... Memorial Day weekend marks a time of reflection and tribute of those who served and passed in serving their country, during peace or war. And it is also the unofficial start to summer, being a popular time to travel, socialize, and engage in recreation. There will be parades, cookouts, solemn observances, commemorations, a whole host of feelings and activities. The ideals, freedoms, and security fought for and supported by those who have died and are honored this day, take shape in different ways, and perhaps one is how we get to live life and enjoy inalienable rights, as imperfect as the social process may be at times. And these aspects are observed this holiday weekend. We hope you have a safe, healthy, and meaningful Memorial Day and weekend, and time spent well. This Memorial Day weekend, I am deeply grateful for the sacrifices made by the men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms. Consider these two contrasting scenarios: 1. Today, we wake up with food readily accessible, cars that take us anywhere we want, and the convenience of modern technology. We often find ourselves complaining about trivial inconveniences like bad coffee or a messy house, and we get frustrated when our WiFi isn’t working. 2. Imagine waking up to the sound of a trumpet or sirens overhead. You quickly put on your clothes and boots, not your favorite sneakers. There’s no time to scroll through Instagram or catch up with friends. Instead, you see your comrade next to you, knowing your day is about protecting each other, facing the very real threat of death. Scenario 2 is the reality that allows us to enjoy the freedoms and comforts of scenario 1. This Memorial Day, let's remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. Thank you…. May the two numbers on our tombstone allow us time you have given us to make the (dash “-“) count.

as a storyteller, i count myself lucky to live in a country where i am not overtly limited as a woman, or as a person with disabilities, or because of my religious beliefs or my marital status or anything else. it might be hard and there might be hurdles and accessibility issues and other roadblocks but there is nothing overtly standing between me and the stories i want to tell beyond the challenges of being a filmmaker in general. and i also have the space to work and fight to make those hurdles smaller and the roadblocks less complicated, and the whole process more accessible. i have open access to the internet, social media, international collaboration. i can access whatever books i want to read (even if they are "banned" i can still order them online and get them shipped to my door). there is no government agency outright screening my films and requiring political edits prior to wide release. i can decide which artists i want to collaborate with, i can decide how i want to tell the stories i want to tell, i can distribute the movies i make online on countless platforms either under paid contracts or for free because i just want to share. i can travel the world and pitch the stories i want to tell and collaborate with co-producers and distributors around the world. i can decide what clients i want to work with, what types of people i want to support, and what type of work i want to do to support them. i can crowdfund, i can work with investors, i can earn my own money or manage space dream productions to earn money to fund the films i want to make. as an american, i can acknowledge that there might be a lot of problems with america right now - even as a citizen of the western world in general there are of course lots of problems. but i am endlessly thankful to have the freedom to even talk about it. i might not know everyone who has laid down their life defending that freedom, but i am thankful for every single one of them. i hope you had a meaningful day today. and i hope while facing any challenges or opposition or people who don't agree with you or problems that you see in the world - i hope you face it knowing you have the space to face it in the first place. and that is more than some people in the world have. the world might need lots of improvement, but i'm reflecting today on the freedoms we have and working to remember that freedom more when facing anything i have to face.
We're thankful to live in a country where we have the freedom to have our own thoughts, opinions, dreams, and choices. And we're thankful for every single human who has put the lives and freedoms of other people ahead of their own life, and paid the ultimate price for it. We hope you had a meaningful Memorial Day today. And if you're seeing this after Memorial Day, we hope the sentiments carry through to the rest of the year. #MemorialDay

MAKIN' MOVES...MEMORIAL DAY EDITION... On this day...pools open, people have a "lake day", the beaches are packed...Summer officially kicks off for many...but it's much more than that!! Just a little background on this holiday... Memorial Day, a significant American holiday, honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Its origins date back to the Civil War, a conflict that claimed more lives than any other in American history and required the establishment of the country's first national cemeteries. The precise origins of Memorial Day are a bit cloudy, with numerous towns and cities claiming to be its birthplace. However, in 1966, the federal government declared Waterloo, New York, as the official birthplace of Memorial Day. This recognition was based on a ceremony held there on May 5, 1866, during which businesses closed and residents decorated the graves of soldiers with flowers and flags. Originally known as Decoration Day, the holiday was intended to honor the Union soldiers who had died during the Civil War. By the end of the 19th century, Memorial Day ceremonies were being held on May 30 across the nation, with state legislatures passing proclamations designating the day and the Army and Navy adopting regulations for observing it at their facilities. After World War I, Memorial Day was expanded to honor all Americans who died in military service. In 1971, Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress, and its observance was moved to the last Monday in May to create a three-day weekend. Today, Memorial Day is celebrated with various traditions, including visiting cemeteries and memorials, holding parades, and participating in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. local time. It's a time for Americans to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have fought for their country and to remember the true cost of freedom. Today isn't about Makin' Moves...it's about remembering and saying thank you!! To those who have served and sacrificed so that the rest of us may live in a place that allows us the freedom to chase our dreams, live free and speak our minds... Thank you!! #harvestpropertiesgroup #realestateinvesting #passiveincome #viveequity #cashflow #wealth #financialfreedom #vivepropertymanagement #makinmoves #barbaricyawp

Lessons learned from Mr. D: 1. Tell your family how much you love them multiple times a day. 2. Keep the door of your home open to friends and family for a great meal and cold drink. 3. Keep the pool ice cold, not sure why but it's super memorable. 4. Coach and volunteer in your town. 5. Always be willing to drive kids home after practice, regardless of how far from your home they live. 6. Love and respect your country and neighbors no exceptions Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day My thoughts on best ways to honor the day D MULLETT SMITH MAY 23, 2024 As a youngster there were parades with flags waving and visits to cemeteries and flags on the resting place of those fallen soldier. In my great grandfather’s day, there were visits to cemeteries and flags placed on the graves of fallen soldiers. Also patriotic speeches. Some communities would have concerts in the park. My personal preference is remembering why these brave people gave their lives so that we could live in the country they loved so much. Remembering why they loved their country and praying that their sacrifice would not be in vain. All those whom I have known and read about, fought to ensure the freedoms we have been blessed with by our Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights. The freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The right to free speech, freedom to worship according to our own conscience and understanding of God. The right to own what we work for and keep our families safe without some official breaking into our homes or spying on our private lives. This is only a few. It is not my opinion that anyone died to leave the country in a static condition but with the freedom to be creative, inventive, productive in the interests of each individual unimpaired by intrusive leadership with the sole exception of carrying out some criminal activity. On the other hand we have leaders now who are declaring many of our freedoms as criminal activities. Somehow there is a confusion now between what a crime really is. Even words are being twisted in meaning to sound as if they mean what was never considered in the first place. It is worse than the multiple languages brought on those trying to build the Tower of Babel. I propose for this Memorial Day to pause, try to appreciate the original concept of our founding documents. Try to acknowledge our differences in our beliefs and words and make some effort to appreciate each other’s rights to those differences without trying to impose our own on each other. If we stop imposing our own beliefs on each other, perhaps try to understand to some extent, the other person’s beliefs, allow freedom of thought and speech, but protect our own rights in the same fashion as we want others rights to be protected, we might find some middle ground for all to survive in freedom. There does come a degree of conflict when the beliefs of one includes reducing the population by forcing others to take a product that secretly is intended to cause or promote this reduction is a form of imposition violating the Bill of Rights. Several of our leaders have become masterful at double speak. The rest of us should become better at understanding what is really being said and find it is laughable. How absurd to believe such confusion of words and their meanings. Let’s really honor those who gave so much so that we could be free!
