We are thrilled to announce the 30 original research papers that were selected for the 2023 Pioneer Research Journal, Volume 10, an international collection of certified undergraduate-level research. Published annually, the journal features the most outstanding scholarship generated by the global scholars enrolled in the Pioneer Research Program, the world’s only fully-accredited online research program providing U.S. college credit for exceptional high school students from around the world. Publication in the Pioneer Research Journal is a distinction achieved only after an intensive review process defined by thoroughness and objectivity. Each paper was nominated by one of Pioneer’s mentoring professors before undergoing a rigorous double-blind review by a member of the 52-member panel of faculty experts from top American universities and colleges. Reviewers evaluated each paper according to four criteria: engagement with scholarship, evidence and analysis, writing and organization, and scholarly contribution. The papers ultimately selected after undergoing this review represent 2% of the research papers from Pioneer’s 2023 academic year. You can read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/gHeCW8ej. 📣#CallForApplications: Equipping Researchers with Skills, Strategies and Confidence for #ScienceCommunication #VIUSpringSchool 2025: March 31- April 4, 2025 #Application deadline: January 15, 2025 💬 Communicating research to public and policy audiences is becoming a key element of researchers’ work, but can be challenging when researchers lack the specific skills and have little experience of engaging with audiences outside the academic arena. It is essential to make researchers more aware of the importance of public science communication and engagement, especially since these activities are increasingly expected by research funders and policymakers as a pathway towards societal impact of research. To be effective public communicators, researchers need training to equip them with the key skills and confidence to communicate strategically using a wide range of tools and channels, and evaluating impact along the way. This #VIUSpringSchool gives practical skills and tools of communication to the #GraduateStudents, who will be involved in lectures, exercises, simulations, discussions, case studies, and site visits. 🎓Suitable for: #MasterStudents, #PhDstudents and young #researchers from all research disciplines across natural and social sciences, engineering and humanities. Faculty Alessandra Fornetti, Venice International University Ilda Mannino, Venice International University Marina Joubert, Stellenbosch University Lars Guenther, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Julia Serong, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Monica Déchène, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Marco Bettiol, Università degli Studi di Padova Elenora Di Maria, Università degli Studi di Padova ❗ #ApplyNow! https://lnkd.in/ecyqPt_i #VeniceInternationalUniversity #VIUGraduate #VIUInterdisciplinary #VIUOpportunity

Very relevant point indeed. Once I took my doctorate I was provided with ample of benchmarking opportunities, which was providing me indeed with guidance and allowed me to understand how the various things relate and belong to each other. Thus you might want to give this topic some well deserved consideration.
Don’t miss our webinar on ten key points that prospective doctoral students should consider prior to embarking on such a journey, namely: 1. Structuredness of the Programme 2. Research Scoping 3. Mastering the Trio 4. Supportive Network 5. Research Methods 6. Benchmarking Opportunities 7. Progress Measurement 8. The Element of Time 9. Viva Preparation 10. The aftermath of the doctorate During this webinar we’ll engage in discussion around ten guiding points prospective doctoral students should consider prior to embarking on such a journey. For you to have a better understanding about what to expect at the webinar we are going to post a teaser for each of the ten key points in the days ahead. Today we introduce: #6 Benchmarking Opportunities: Learning together and learning from how others do. Benchmarking is a great way to learn from and with others and to orientate and compare oneself. Learning from others is important. Hence, scientific conferences and other methods of meeting other researchers working in your discipline is an essential element of academia. Continual benchmarking throughout your doctorate is highly recommended. However, knowing where to go and who to meet may be daunting. Therefore, well designed doctoral programmes provide structured means for benchmarking with those at the same development stages, and with those already further ahead. So do not forget to check out what your prospective programme is offering to you in this regard. That’s it for today and we are looking forward seeing you tomorrow on: #7 Progress Measurement: Availability of regular control points and tracking progress. 🔗 Register Here https://lnkd.in/egE97hVW #PhDLife #DBA #HigherEducation #AcademicJourney #Webinar #Research #DoctorateHub FOLLOW DoctorateHub for more insights on the doctorate research journey!

For you to have a better understanding about what to expect at the webinar we are going to post a teaser for each of the ten key points in the days ahead. Today we introduce: #9 Viva Preparation: Why it all boils down to the Viva – and how to prepare for that day well ahead of time. You are either a doctor or you are not. It is all about the passing of the Viva. However, well prepared students are actually those that don’t need that much time for Viva preparation. The reason for such is that they’ve learnt what it takes to survive the doctoral journey and understand what’s ahead in order to reach the end point. Well prepared students will have discussed, presented, defended, and adjusted their research continuously through their research journey. Well prepared students will have a clear understanding about what worked well and what did not, and how things have progressed and changed over time. Therefore, it is important that doctoral programmes provide both: structured means that allow students to get prepared through their research journey, as well as a supportive learning environment that keeps a record of the personal developments. That’s it for today and we are looking forward seeing you tomorrow our last topic: #10. The Aftermath of the Doctorate: What to expect from a reconfigured version of you (and how to handle yourself). 🔗 Register Here https://lnkd.in/egE97hVW #PhDLife #DBA #HigherEducation #AcademicJourney #Webinar #Research #DoctorateHub FOLLOW DoctorateHub for more insights on the doctorate research journey!
