Your application process is probably costing you top talent 🫣 In the UK, up to 60% of candidates give up on job applications if they’re too long 🤷🏾♂️ - Long, complicated forms push people away. - The quicker and easier the process, the more candidates will apply. - A simple, user-friendly application can make a huge difference in attracting talent. - You’re not just losing candidates — you’re losing good ones. I hate how so many jobs want you to create an account on random websites before applying. In reality, you just need to upload a CV and fill in some basic details like your name and your contact details. There's no need for those extra hurdles.

One of the most detrimental things hiring company can do (in my personal opinion) is get you to repeat same information in multiple forms in order to apply for a role (like rewriting your CV) 🤦🤦🤦. To me personally it demonstrates lack of respect for your time or disorganisation in hiring process both ruining user experience and first impressions right off the bat. You essentially alianate potential great hire due to inability to streamline your hiring process. In today's day and age where pretty much everything online has an Api, web scraper, xml file, AI, etc, etc. There really is no excuse for not being able to parse and structure information across multiple environments allowing for seemles user experience. Based on some of the polls done on here which I've seen, most users do not proceed with job application if they are faced with this. Im just curious how much unhired talent have companies missed out on due to this? 🤔🤔

The worst applications are those that require you to enter every single of line of your CV and role details. I close those down and never finish the application no matter how good the job is.

I recently applied to a job that needed me to upload work samples after I had already shared a link to my portfolio.and yes, they were both 'required' fields.

The logic is that serious candidates will take their time and go through the whole process. The reality is exactly as you said. Top candidates don’t want to have their time wasted.

Yup, when they said "4 rounds of interviews and a project that shouldn't take more than 10 hours".

Interesting. Yes, one contract, with a high profile client. I was treated like a robot, at the time I didn’t respond well by leaving mid term. Would I do it now, hmm, I have been forced to hand my notice in, a fee times, on other roles, three of which were leading to permanent tenures. I have been bullied at work, yes, we shouldn’t have to go through this; but I have; as many do and have. I had to deal with poor leaders, and not accepted for me. This has affected my confidence for sure. I am finding my feet, its been a heck of a journey.

I shut it down and never apply for the job. Senseless to have candidates submit resumes and have them add all the jobs and information manually. Nope not interested. Let's fix the ATS to be more candidate-friendly.

If you think that's fun, try filling out a form SF-86 TS/SCI as part of the process. 😏

Yes, yes, and yes. Nowadays, with a shortage of applicants for each position, the process needs to be simple. Job postings contain too many detailed requirements, which few people have, and the overkill of details required from the applicant is a sure turn-off and the quickest way to lose hiring opportunities.
