I was recently looking for a way to play a .m3u8 file and came across a website that recommended VLC Media Player. The article mentioned, "This media player might not be the most popular video software these days, but it still has excellent features that come in handy." That statement really caught me off guard. I've used VLC for as long as I can remember, and it’s always been my go-to. It’s more than just a video player. I use it to take quick screenshots from videos, customize the buffer bar to my liking, convert videos, and watch streams. On top of that, it lets me tune into radio stations, and I can even change the skin to anything the community has created. And let’s not forget, VLC can play just about any file format you throw at it—even the really obscure ones—thanks to its extensive codec support. It’s amazing that something so powerful is still free and open-source! (I mean, I still play .3gp and .rm files). The VLC community has kept it alive and evolving for years. It’s hard to believe that anyone would say VLC isn’t popular anymore! I recently came across a comparison by a user named nanceymiller1985 who reviewed five media players, including VLC. In the market for a new desktop PC rig. Curious what I should be looking for in 2024… it’s been awhile. Mostly, I just want something super snappy for web access/browser, since that’s basically the bottleneck for everything in my business. I have AT&T Fiber. Not really sure how to optimize for web browser speed/ web app speed as most performance PCs optimize for gaming, which I don’t give a crap about. ❓ Windows 11 yay or nay? Preferred brands? Other considerations or recommendations? Should I just talk to this dude???
