🚨 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧: 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 Europol has released a critical intelligence notification highlighting an alarming trend: organized crime groups are increasingly recruiting minors across Europe through social media and encrypted messaging. Key Findings: 📱 Recruitment Tactics: Use of coded messaging and slang "Gamification" of criminal activities Framing illegal tasks as challenges or games Heavy exploitation of encrypted messaging platforms ⚠️ Concerning Trends: Minors involved in almost all criminal markets Increasing assignment to violent activities Multi-country recruitment operations Deliberate targeting to evade law enforcement 🔍 Why This Matters: Criminal networks are adapting their methods to exploit young people while minimizing digital traces, making detection and prevention increasingly challenging for law enforcement. This development requires urgent attention from law enforcement, social media platforms, parents, and educators to protect vulnerable youth from criminal exploitation. #Cybercrime #YouthProtection #LawEnforcement #Europol #OnlineSafety #CrimeAlert https://lnkd.in/d_esTQYd

The UK is hosting the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly, which will take place from 4–7 November 2024 in Glasgow. The largest global gathering of senior law enforcement officials will bring together some 1,000 participants, including heads of police, ministers, and senior government officials from around the world. As part of this international event, the 3PO_Project, led by CENTRIC in partnership with the UK Home Office, Police Service of Northern Ireland, South Yorkshire Police, Lancashire Constabulary, Police Scotland, Humberside Police, and the Metropolitan Police, will have a stand at the law enforcement exhibition, which aims to showcase the best of UK policing and law enforcement, with a focus on the three General Assembly themes: Global Leadership, Innovation and Collaboration. We are eager to share our findings and collaborate on solutions to enhance the online safety and wellbeing of police officers and their families." — Professor Saskia Bayerl, Head of Research at CENTRIC, 3PO Project Principal Investigator “The 3PO project demonstrates our commitment to bring research into operational reality through thought leadership, collaboration, and operationally focused innovation. At CENTRIC, we are proud to showcase our research and development in online harm prevention and AI driven situational awareness capabilities that enhance the safety and security of police officers and staff as public-facing professionals in the online space." — Professor Babak Akhgar OBE, Director of CENTRIC Note: this event is not open to the public. Background INTERPOL’s role is to enable police in its 196 member countries to work together to fight transnational crime and make the world a safer place. It maintains global databases containing police information on criminals and crime, and provides operational and forensic support, analysis services and training. These policing capabilities are delivered worldwide and support four global programmes: financial crime and corruption; counter- terrorism; cybercrime; and organized and emerging crime.

INTERPOL - International Criminal Police Organization The concept of this organization was born in 1923, modernized in 1956, with an overall goal in providing mutual assistance between police in different countries. Interpol Notices are crucial for global law enforcement cooperation, serving various purposes. 1. The Red Notice helps locate and apprehend international fugitives. 2. Yellow Notices aid in finding missing persons, especially vulnerable ones. 3. Blue Notices gather information on individuals related to a crime. 4. Black Notices provide data on unidentified bodies 5. Green Notices warn about criminal threats. 6. Orange Notices give general warnings about imminent threats. 7. Purple Notices centralize information on criminal methods and devices. 8. INTERPOL–United Nations Security Council Special Notice. These notices enhance international efforts to combat crime and promote a safer world. I was aware of INTERPOL and the purpose of the organization, but the various color-coded notices are something I hadn't really researched until recently. Did you know there were so many categories and the differences between them?
