As we are about midway through Ramadan, we thought you might be curious to know how we support our Muslim colleagues during this time.
Ramadan is a significant time for many members of our team, and we are dedicated to ensuring that all employees feel supported and respected during this period of fasting, reflection, and spiritual growth.
Fasting during this month brings many challenges for our officers and staff with fatigue due to lack of sleep being a major issue, and therefore, line managers are requested to offer flexible working arrangements to accommodate employees observing Ramadan. Whether it's adjusting work schedules or providing options for remote work, support with individual needs and wellbeing of staff during this time to enable them to conduct their duties alongside their religious obligations. We also ask colleagues to be supportive of the individual needs and wellbeing of our Muslim officers and staff.
We ask that annual leave and Eid holiday requests to be considered favourably, shift patterns and flexible working patterns agreed to suit individual needs, light or alternative duties given to staff if needed, time provided to carry out daily prayers - with a multifaith room and ablution facilities available at our HQ to accommodate this, and that breaks are taken as needed, with extra time to break fast dependent on shift.
