CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Working to ensure everyone can live a healthy life & reach their full potential. Father, husband, optimist.

When I look at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s breadth of priorities, gender equality continues to stand out as a key lens through which we can improve our work. The latest Equal Measures 2030 Index published today is a strong reminder of this. Almost three-quarters of the SDGs rely on progress on gender equality. Put simply: while gender equality is a goal in itself, it is also the pathway to progress in many other critical areas of development, from promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth to building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.  Through collective action and by implementing systemic change to build a gender equal world we can create a future where every person has the opportunity to live a healthy, productive life.
