Happy (Belated) Cow Appreciation Day! This handsome man is Chuck, our 7 year old pet steer. Chuck is a anomaly since steers are almost always in the supply chain by 24 months old age. Chuck is living his best life! On July 9, we celebrate the amazing contributions of cows to our world. Did you know that cows are responsible for providing us with essential products like milk, meat, and leather, which support millions of jobs and industries globally? Global Impact: Dairy: The global dairy industry produces over 800 million tons of milk annually, feeding billions and contributing to nutritional security worldwide. Beef: The beef industry generates around $167 billion in revenue in the U.S. alone, playing a significant role in the economy. Leather: Cows also supply the leather industry, which is valued at over $80 billion globally. Sustainable Farming: Soil Health: Grazing cows help maintain soil health by promoting nutrient cycling and reducing soil erosion. Biodiversity: Managed grazing systems can enhance biodiversity, supporting a wide range of plant and animal species. Let's take a moment to appreciate the vital role cows play in our lives and the tireless efforts of farmers and ranchers who care for these incredible animals. Join me in celebrating cows and their significant impact on our world! #CowAppreciationDay #SustainableAgriculture #DairyFarming #BeefProduction #AnimalWelfare #AgricultureStatistics #GlobalImpact

🌿 Raising pigs on pasture is both an art and a science, and at StarWalker Organic Farms, it’s a practice we cherish deeply. Why do we do it? 🍃 Nature’s Way: Pigs are naturally curious and social animals, and on our pastures, they roam freely, which is vital for their wellbeing and happiness. This natural behavior leads to healthier pigs and, in turn, higher quality pork. 🌱 Planet Friendly Farming: Pasture-raised systems help us reduce our environmental footprint. The pigs contribute to soil health through their natural rooting behavior, which helps aerate the soil and cycle nutrients. 🔍 Quality You Can Taste: Pigs that grow up with fresh air, sunshine, and clean grass develop a richer flavor profile. Their diet of diverse forages and organic feed enhances the taste and quality of the pork. 👨🌾 Regenerative Practices: By integrating pigs into our regenerative farming model, we’re able to maintain a balanced ecosystem that supports not only the animals but also the land and our future. At StarWalker, we’re dedicated to doing things right, and that means raising pigs in a way that honors their nature, supports our planet, and provides you with delicious, ethically raised pork. 🌟 #PastureRaised #RegenerativeFarming #SustainableAgriculture #OrganicPork #FarmLife #RegenerativeAgriculture #RegenerativePork #StarWalker

Only 23% of all cereals (corn, wheat) grown in the EU are for direct human consumption 🌽 Most of it is fed to animals. It makes zero sense that we are using arable land to grow crops we first feed to animals. If we stop doing this, we could free up lots of land for nature restoration (and use some of it for human food). It wouldn't even mean we all need to be vegetarian: we could still feed pigs and chickens with food scraps and by-products from food processing. There is a lot of discussion about how much meat is sustainable but there is one thing that most people agree on: growing corn to feed pigs, cows, and chickens is a terrible waste of land. ---- 🎤 This is a video from a pub quiz I organized at a company. If you would also like to organize something like this or are interested in a keynote about sustainable behavior change or climate & food, let's get in touch :) 🙋♂️ I share facts about climate change and food. ‘B’ for bloomin’ brilliant bangers, burgers and breasts! 💪 We believe everyone should know the impact their food choices have on our planet to make informed decisions, so we put ourselves to the test 🤓We worked with My Emissions to assess the life-cycle carbon emissions from farming, processing, packaging, and transportation of three of our most popular products and compared them to the average animal-based alternative. The results were staggering… We achieved a B rating across all three products (🎉), emitting, on average, 63%* less harmful carbon than the average meat counterpart 🤯There’s a reason why animal products don’t promote their environmental impact 👀🏭 But we’re not stopping there! While our products are significantly better for the planet than meat, we will continue working to reduce our impact on our shared home. So sizzle Meatless Farm this summer, not our planet 🌎🌱 Data supplied by My Emissions. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/e5ARu7dN *Meatless Farm Quarter Pounders have 85% lower emissions than standard beef burgers. Meatless Farm Pork and Apple Sausages have 57% lower emissions than standard pork sausages. Meatless Farm Chicken Breasts have 63% lower emissions than standard chicken breasts.

🐝🚛A Day in the Life of a Honeybee Trucker 🚛🐝 Yesterday, May 20th, we celebrated World Bee Day, and today, we're excited to share a fascinating connection between bees and the trucking industry. 🐝🌍🚛 Honeybees are vital to our agricultural system, pollinating approximately 75% of crops and contributing to one-third of the global food supply. With the decline in wild bee populations, farmers increasingly rely on commercially managed honeybees transported across states. 🚜🌾 In our latest blog post, we explore the life of a honeybee trucker, the logistics of bee transportation, and its significant impact on agriculture. Here's a glimpse into the essential role of honeybee transportation: Essential Pollinators: Honeybees are crucial for pollinating crops like almonds, apples, berries, and melons. As crop demand increases, so does the need for efficient pollination. Semi-truck transportation allows beekeepers to provide services across regions, following the blooming cycles of various crops. 🍎🍓🍈 Preparing Bees for Transport: Before transport, beekeepers inspect, feed, and treat their bees to ensure they are healthy and ready for the journey. Loading hives typically happens at night when bees are less active, reducing stress. A truck can transport over 22 million bees! 🌙🚚 Journey of a Honeybee Trucker: Drivers meticulously plan routes to avoid traffic and extreme weather, traveling during cooler parts of the day to prevent overheating. Experienced drivers play a crucial role, making informed decisions in stressful situations to ensure the bees' safety. 🗺️❄️ Impact on Agriculture: Transporting honeybees enhances crop yields and quality, supporting food production and contributing to the stability of the food supply chain. It also promotes biodiversity and ecosystem health, benefiting both the beekeeping and agricultural industries. 🌍🌿 Join us in celebrating these unsung heroes of agriculture. Read the full article on our website to learn more about the challenges and intricacies of honeybee transportation. 🐝💼 📑For complete post , read our blog on our website: https://lnkd.in/dQuzmYW2 #WorldBeeDay #Agriculture #Trucking #Pollination #BeeTrucking #AAMNetwork

🐝 Why Bees Matter: Beyond Honey 🍯 As a beekeeper, I witness every day how essential these little pollinators are—not just for producing honey, but for maintaining the balance of our ecosystem. Bees play a crucial role in pollinating the crops that put food on our tables, from fruits to vegetables. 🌸🌽 Without them, our food supply would look very different. Did you know that one out of every three bites of food we eat depends on pollinators like bees? 🐝🌍 That’s why it’s so important to support local beekeepers and protect bee habitats. By buying local honey, you’re not just getting a delicious and nutritious treat—you’re supporting sustainable practices and helping protect these vital creatures. Every jar of honey tells a story of hard work, resilience, and nature’s delicate balance. Let’s make sure bees continue to thrive so that we can, too! 💛 #beekeeping #pollinators #sustainability #bees #localhoney #honeyharvest #ecofriendly #supportlocal #agriculture #naturelovers
