The Ides of March have passed without too many disruptions... In our worship today as we neared the end of our Lenten journey, we were reminded that God is the one who helps us find order in our chaotic lives. And with God’s help we can focus ourselves on God’s promises of grace and real life. Our psalmist sang a refrain to that thought – that our lives are cleansed by focusing on God’s true commands and desires for relationship. We know this because of the results we experience following God’s guidance. The letter to the Hebrews connects Jesus, even in his divinity, to us as humans so we are able to stand in the trials we experience. The Gospel from John began with a request from “some Greeks” who ask to see Jesus. In response, Jesus tells his disciples that alone we aren’t fruitful but in relationships we are. Our sermon focused reading from Hebrew scripture from the Prophet Jeremiah offers a promise which brings assurance and connection in chaos – that God’s commands are known because they are integral and central to who we are as God’s creation. Our challenge and goal as we reflect on God in our lives is to act trusting that God is there and leading us forward, even when we don’t remember God’s presence. Doing and reflecting are how we live into the future which has hope as its basis. How will you use the remaining days of Lent to clear the view to see God’s guidance already present?
