Today #COP29Azerbaijan kicks off. Surrounded by increasing uncertainties regarding #ClimateChange, #EnergyTransition, #HumanRights I have been looking forward to follow this year's discussions to see, how our perspective on topics caused by #ClimateCrisis has developed since last year. I don't expect revolutions but I hope for improvements. This will already be a step forward.

Our teams have eagerly awaited COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan and we are thrilled to have seven Associates representing Inogen Alliance at events during COP. In the opening speech, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev stated "We must remember that every action matters. Because every fraction of a degree matters. Every home we loose is a failure. Every life we save is a victory." Our local Associate, Sustainera Solutions has been crucial in making local connections, working with their local ministries and preparing trainings and presentations ahead of the events. At #COP29, global leaders and experts converge to drive forward ambitious climate action, emphasizing adaptation, mitigation, and equitable solutions to tackle the climate crisis. This year’s focus: fostering collaboration, enhancing resilience, and #acceleratingthetransition to a sustainable, net-zero future. COP29, hosted in #Baku, has been centered around ambitious goals to address the escalating climate crisis. Key initiatives include the establishment of a new climate finance target, called the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), which aims to raise at least $100 billion annually, especially for vulnerable nations in need of adaptation and resilience resources. Additionally, the COP29 Presidency launched the “Climate Finance Action Fund”, targeting financial support for developing countries facing the worst impacts of climate change, particularly in food and agriculture. Another core focus is advancing “Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)” aligned with the 1.5°C target, driving national commitments to stronger emissions cuts by 2035. This requires deeper, sector-specific plans across energy, transport, and agriculture. In parallel, new rules for carbon markets, under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, are being finalized to help countries trade carbon credits effectively and reach their climate targets collaboratively.
