I had the privilege of interviewing an incredible leader in HR, Stacy Oksenberg, Chief Human Resources & Strategy Officer for the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. She is a passionate advocate for aligning personal values with the company you work for—where your moral and philosophical "north star" is in sync with the organization’s. She emphasizes the importance of continual professional and personal education, believing that staying educated and certified in your area of expertise enhances credibility and equips you to navigate the ever-changing landscapes of HR and learning and development. She also encourages everyone to prioritize their health and well-being, ensuring we bring our best selves to work and home. One profound insight she shared was how the hardest decisions made at the C-suite level always involve people, and HR carries the responsibility of delivering those difficult changes. It takes a unique blend of strength and empathy to excel in HR, and we should all strive for that balance and dedication when serving others as leaders. The full article showcasing Stacy's advice and experiences is coming soon! #HRLeadership #ValueAlignment #ContinualEducation #HealthAndWellbeing #LeadershipDecisions #StrengthAndEmpathy #ProfessionalDevelopment #LearningAndDevelopment #PeopleFirst #LeadershipInsights #YMCA

HR professionals should be recognised as the unsung heroes of the workplace. During a recent ‘coaching catch up’ with one of my former students, they described their senior people management role as being “like walking a tightrope in stilettos”. People professionals juggle multiple hats with finesse - all while effortlessly handling disgruntled employees, managers and demanding senior leaders. HR is truly the iron fist in a velvet glove of the corporate world. #peoplemanagement #HR
