With the upcoming change in administration, the IRS must finalize its rules for the section 45V green hydrogen tax credit under the IRA in the next few weeks — or risk delaying critical progress. Check the comments below for a link to Maeve Allsup’s great write-up in Latitude Media on the implications of the Republican trifecta for green hydrogen (including a quote from yours truly!). The clock is ticking, and it’s more essential than ever to get these rules finalized. While overly restrictive rules could limit green hydrogen from reaching its full potential, not having final rules at all before the Inauguration could deal a paralyzing blow to our plans to decarbonize heavy industry. Alternatively, if we get these rules out promptly, we can get on with the critical business of building domestic supply chains and manufacturing of electrolyzers, as well as developing the actual electrolysis facilities themselves. This, in turn, will enable the U.S. to rise to a position of dominance in green hydrogen and related fuels and feedstocks that can: 👉 cut emissions fast 👉 create jobs 👉 show the world how to do it. But we need stable rules that everyone can get behind, so that we can get down to business without further delays. #GreenHydrogen #45V #Decarbonization
