One common issue in product design portfolios is not clearly showing how research findings connect to the solutions being presented. To make a case study impactful and research useful, it's important to pull out actionable insights that help readers understand the story and stay engaged. Just showing charts and data can overwhelm people, creating a gap between the research and how it applies to the design. Instead, the findings should lead to clear conclusions, suggest solutions, and offer practical takeaways that show how they fit into the design process. Even if the insights are subtle or the solutions seem obvious, their value lies in showing how thoughtful research shapes good design. This is especially important in case studies for multidisciplinary product design roles, where both clarity and understanding are key. #findings #insights #designresearch #design

“I like being told that I am wrong, that's when I learn” — Don Norman It was an honor to participate in a fireside chat with Don Norman 😀. I was moved because there were so many insights in this session, which was truly amazing. ---- Most Important Takeaways: 🎨 Design is not art. Art is not Design. Design is about solving the right problems of real people. 👫 Humanity-centered design focuses on benefiting all humanity instead of solely prioritizing corporate profit. ∞ Today's design education should focus more on integrating a wider range of disciplines, such as history, economics, politics, business, etc., because the purpose of design often encompasses them. ❗Engineers, scientists are also problem-solvers, but good designers find the right problems by constantly asking, "Is this a good question?" 💬 Don believes that the future design lies in conversational interactions, moving beyond traditional interfaces. —— I greatly respect Don Norman not only because he is a pioneer in human-centered design but also because he is a true INTERDISCIPLINARY expert and lifelong learner, which is exactly what I aspire to be. I also recommend the Don Norman Design Award (DNDA), if you are starting your venture for the planet and humanity, go check it out! Thank you Felix Lee and adplist.org for hosting this inspiring chat. #humancentereddesign #uxdesign #designcommunity #designer #productdesign

Does design need a strategic revolution? We spend years honing our craft, becoming masters of pixels and prototypes. But then, bam! We're expected to morph into strategic wizards, translating business goals into groundbreaking design solutions. Think about it. We start off learning and perfecting the craft and never actually learn about strategic thinking and business acumen. The problem? - We try and learn as we go - No formal training in schools - We seek external courses to improve this gap The path to strategic design mastery feels more like a treacherous climb with no map. It is up to the individual designers to piecemeal these skills together through whispers in the office hallway. What if there was a better way? Imagine design education that equips us from the get-go with strategic superpowers. We'd be able to: - Speak business, turn designs into actionable plans. - Show impact behind pixels and everyone informed. - Lead the way, advocate for design's power. - Translate pixels into metrics. Scaling design as a strategic force is a continuous uphill battle. #design #designcareer #designmetrics #growthdesigner

Hi LinkedIn, I’m excited to share a new series of posts where I’ll be revealing snippets and bloopers from my design and research projects. Through these, you'll get a closer look at my work process, interests, and experiences—things you might not find on my website. Let's call it 'BTS in Pieces'. 😌 What to expect: - Experiments, successes, and failures: I’ll share trial experiments, parts that stood out, and those that had to be redone or discarded altogether. - My thought process: Insights into why I made certain decisions. - Simple language: No corporate jargon here! This series will be like a light-hearted journal entry—simple and digestible. This is an attempt to find like-minded creatives and communities for a mutual exchange of learnings. Stay tuned, and cheers! 🎈 #BTSinPieces #UXResearch #DesignThinking #DesignManagement #DesignStrategy #Design

Good questions make great processes and deliver impactful design solutions 🚀 Did you know? The most successful innovations often start with the right questions. Asking why, how, and what if allows teams to uncover hidden challenges, rethink assumptions, and design solutions that truly resonate with users. By focusing on thoughtful inquiries, you can 1) uncover unmet needs and overlooked pain points. 2)Inspire creative, out-of-the-box thinking leading to impactful insights. TLDR: Great design outcomes don't begin with answers, they start with the right questions. 💡 Subscribe and read more every week: https://lnkd.in/gvZsqXf8

To those who tragically took their own lives years ago due to academic struggles, those who slipped through the cracks without receiving timely help, those who dropped out due to poor grades, and those whose aspirations were dashed by accreditation issues - they, the unsung heroes who fell, could have been a testament to this. And what about the decisions made about institutions by the public, based on unfounded facts unsupported by sufficient data? All of this undermines the significance of institutional research. Institutional research is a crucial field that focuses on gathering and analyzing data to inform decision-making. It serves as an information hub where the university collect and share data, along with reports, both internally and with the public. This hub provides a platform where data can be readily available to the public and where reports can be easily shared. This UI design speaks about that. That's why I'm excited to share my latest UI design on that, some backstory and lesson learnt in the process to be shared soon. Check it out

Insights from user research drives the design of a product, its packaging, and even the product's instructions for us. This can make or break a product. Yet moderating user research sessions tends to be an overlooked art. A skilled moderator has the ability to ask the questions necessary to fully understand users’ decisions, needs, and expectations--without influencing participants. There's a lot of nuance involved. You need to be able to recognize which details are important. You need to know when to take a step back. You need to be able to sense how to make your participant feel at ease. If you get it right, you'll gather the information you need to drive a successful design. Ready to delve deeper? With the Help of Syndia + Udaya at @Atlanta USA and their Team, as a Vice Chancellor of CVRU Bihar , I have initiated an innovative step to have a virtual long-time span (8 weeks @1 hr per week) workshop on Design Thinking for our PG scholars particularly the research scholars. Purpose and intention is let just spent some time on detecting and defining the research problem, rather than directly jumping on ways to solve the problem by picking any random problem from a heap/plethora of problems that exists in records or secondary storage house of problems. If successful, I have couple of big plans to join hands with many stalwarts (individuals or organizations) in coming time just for the betterment of society, Youngs, women, deprived clusters of HRs/villages/cities and yes, the overall society/environment keeping 17 SDGs in background. If Product Design is so awesome, why is it so hard to get some organizations to invest in it? ... One reason is Quantification Bias. People assign more weight to things they can measure and since it's hard to measure the ROI of design efforts, it's typically valued less. Leaders know that if they hire another developer they can build X more features per year. But what do they get if they hire one more designer? Design is about: - exploration - mitigating risks - validating assumptions - incrementally moving a product from meh to delightful - seeing around corners - a fuzzy path to improvement a/o innovation 👆 All things that are hard to measure......and all things that your favorite products invested in—that's why they're your favorite 🤯 An intellectual exercise: What's the ROI of your morning coffee? ...of reading books? ...of having kids? Not all things that are valuable are easily measurable. I wonder what thoughts Craig Bachman and Arin LoPrete and Martin Slamon would add to this topic? #workonthewalls #visualthinking #designROI #kidsareexpensive P.s. If you are one of the lucky people whose judgment is not affected by this bias, I invite you to google 'bias blind spot' 😁
