I was listening to an NPR Life Kit tonight about Giving Tuesday - they were trying to help people figure out how to make charitable gifts. 1) Think about things you care about. 2) Write down a list of organizations that are working to make that happen, and 3) Make a budget. (And make a donation!) It's not bad advice. It's a little dry and passionless for my taste - but in some ways, I hope you do this today/Tuesday. I hope you think about what you want your community to look like for *everyone* and think about your budget and give what you can give. Today/Tuesday is a great day to do it because a lot of non-profits are hoping you will, but really any day is a good day to give. I've worked at WayForward Resources for 23 years come January. It's a good organization that is very responsibly operated and managed, with the best of the people you've ever known working and volunteering and teaming together to create that better world. Follow along with our GivingTuesday Block Party all day long. If nothing else, please share a post or two. Give a few (or more) dollars if you can. Make the world better for someone today. As one of the equally busiest food pantries in our community, and one of the only organizations in Dane County providing housing case management, eviction prevention funds, and a doubled-up housing program, your donation during this will increase our impact, helping us provide food, housing, and hope to our community. #buildtogether

HOLIDAY GIVING MATTERS: The holiday season is a time to come together and support those in need. Corporate partners can make a significant impact by working with community organizations like The Mama-Tee Community Fridge Project. Here’s how you can help: ✅ Thank you, McKinsey & Company for volunteering with us last week! We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back as we continue serving the community. ✅ Support local food drives: Your business can help stock community fridges with healthy and nutritious food for families experiencing food insecurity, especially during the holidays. ✅ Donate funds: Financial support helps us maintain our fridges, purchase food, and reach more families. You can donate directly here: https://gofund.me/b018edc2 ✅ Offer volunteer hours: Encourage your employees to volunteer their time with local initiatives. Together, we can ensure no one goes hungry this holiday season. ✅ Spread the word: Use your platform to share the message of giving. The more visibility we gain, the more families we can help. We can be more than we are! I posted a comment for Beyond Your Doors, encouraging people to break a habit and give back. When we try something new, we grow and, hopefully, succeed. I thought this would be a great reminder in our professional world. How often do we continue to do the same thing again-and-again and feel lost at work? Sometimes, a minor change to a habit or routine will lead to growth in another area. In our professional world, we can do more. We need to keep challenging ourselves and never settle. Let us learn, grow, and share. https://lnkd.in/ekXnNivU If you are interested in supporting Beyond Your Doors, we are a 501c3 nonprofit that simplifies community engagement by making it easy for people to receive support and give back. We create accessible opportunities for donating, volunteering, and helping those in need within the local community. Brodie Wise on Instagram: "@beyondyourdoors it is time to change our habits. We get into the same old rut doing the same thing day after day. I changed nights on picking up food and I got to run into new people who wanted to step up and help. if I didn’t change, I wouldn’t get to see them and they wouldn’t be able to step up. So let’s change this week by little bit extra and give it to someone in

I always feel for children suffering the same illness as me. Their schooling, education, social activities, child hood ruined by an infection that at its worst is on par with me/ cfs. Friendly reminder as the social occasions take place, if you catch covid or another viral infection please do not think it does not affect me so everyone else will be ok. The viral infection is airborne and can badly affect those who are vulnerable to post viral illness or immune system comprised. This is not including illnesses that can develop as a result of post viral illnesses. I unfortunately developed postural tachycardia syndrome as a result of a covid infection in 2023 as covid infected my central nervous system. I deal with multiple symptoms every day and it took away my ability to stand still for no longer then a few minutes at a time. I have spent 2 years trying to improve my health. My body cannot handle postural changes very well. I end the year about to embark on cardiovascular rehabilitation for a solid year with most likely blood vessel damage from covid. Do think of others and take precautions.

Look no further! 🍽️ Here at George Mason's Food Insecurity Group, we're dedicated to tackling hunger and food insecurity both on and off-campus. As the semester comes to a close, we're thrilled to announce several opportunities for you to continue supporting our mission and making a positive impact in the lives of others. 🥫 Ways to Donate Food After the Spring Semester Ends: 1. Campus Food Drive: Keep an eye out for campus-wide food drives where you can donate non-perishable food items. Look for collection bins in common areas and residence halls to drop off your donations. 2. Community Partnerships: Explore partnerships with local food banks, shelters, and community organizations. Consider organizing a donation drive or volunteering your time to help distribute food to those in need. 3. Virtual Food Drives: Can't donate physical items? No problem! Consider organizing a virtual food drive where participants can make monetary donations online. Every dollar counts and goes a long way in providing meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity. 4. Educational Events: Host educational events to raise awareness about food insecurity and its impact on our community. Invite guest speakers, organize panel discussions, or screen documentaries to spark meaningful conversations and inspire action. Remember, even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
