I can’t afford that! Life insurer demands more money – a horror story. How we can help. Did you get sold a life insurance policy as an investment? To your surprise, is your money gone.  Life insurance investments are a money maker for the salesperson. They get paid off the top, then the remainder of your money is “invested” and must make up the lost ground. Add the 9th wonder of the world, the compounding erosion of your money through high annual fees, and it’s no wonder that your life insurance investment failed to make you money. Here a true story. A middle-aged couple had money that they could invest. They were convinced to buy a complex insurance product called Universal Life. They put a large upfront amount into the policy, expecting never to have to pay another cent. When they died, they were told, their children would be rich. The money was sure to grow, and the “investment” seemed an obvious choice. The fee paid to their agent could set most of us up for many cruises and other luxuries. Perhaps it did, for the agent.
