In Estonian maritime affairs, there are indeed interesting times – on one hand, there are several challenges arising from the economic environment, and on the other hand, there are future projects with great potential. Port of Tallinn, in cooperation with the Kliimaministeerium / Ministry of Climate of Estonia, German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania (AHK) and HHLA TK Estonia AS, organized an upbeat and inspiring Maritime and Logistics Day on April 30th at Port of Muuga, where the current state and future of the industry were discussed by: 🔵 Minister of Climate - Kristen Michal 🔵 Deputy Secretary General for Maritime and Water Affairs - Kaupo Läänerand 🔵 CEO of the FERNRIDE - Martin Isik 🔵 CEO of the Finnish Ports Association - Suomen Satamat ry - Piia Karjalainen 🔵 CEO of HHLA TK Estonia - Riia Sillave 🔵 CEO of Rail Baltic Estonia - Anvar Salomets 🔵 Member of the Management Board of Port of Tallinn - Margus Vihman My main observations and thoughts, which I took away from the visionary day from the engaging presenters: 🔵⚫⚪ Estonia is too small for everyone to do their own thing. To achieve a better future, we need to stick together. Companies in the logistics sector, regardless of the mode of transport and business focus, are participants in a comprehensive supply chain, and together, we can deal with challenges affecting the sector. 🔵⚫⚪ Digitalization and automation. It's nice to see that the future is here. There's an air of innovation at Muuga Port. I personally became convinced. There is an extremely great potential for future customers (including Rail Baltica freight owners) and a breeding ground for technology companies. Our strength lies in an open mindset and less bureaucracy compared to old Europe. 🔵⚫⚪Everyone is waiting for Rail Baltica, and the logistics sector is ready to organize our construction logistics. Before the tracks reach Muuga, a complex logistical operation is needed to ensure that construction materials reach the construction site sustainably, safely, and environmentally friendly. Separately, I would like to thank Andres Uusoja, who moderated the entire day and organized a inspiring tour. The show must go on! #RailBaltic #RailBalticEstonia #tulevikonrongs
