I recently attended a seminar in Morocco aimed at strengthening Erasmus+ funded international partnerships between Sub-Saharan African countries and Mediterranean countries. The funding allocation for the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 period heavily favours partnerships with Sub-Sahara African countries. While African higher education institutions cannot apply directly for the funding, we have an opportunity like never before to negotiate with partners and influence the programme design to ensure that we are not simply "along for the ride" but that our institutional strategic priorities and needs are also addressed. #partnerships #internationalisation #erasmusplus #equity #internationaleducation #capacitybuilding #mobility #exchanges

It’s wonderful to kick off our engagement at EAIE: European Association for International Education with a workshop on systemic internationalization led by Dr. Marina Casals Sala, our new Director of Memeber Relations for Europe. What is the current state of relations between Colombia and Indonesia regarding the promotion of education and international mobility? Colombia and Indonesia maintain growing relations in the promotion of education and international mobility, building on our broader diplomatic ties. Both countries are part of several multilateral forums, such as the G20 and the Non-Aligned Movement, which help facilitate academic and cultural exchanges.   In recent years, we have focused on promoting cooperation through student exchange programs, scholarships, and academic collaborations. Indonesia offers scholarships for Colombian students through programs like the Darmasiswa Scholarship, which allows international students to study Indonesian language and culture. Likewise, Colombia offers scholarships to Indonesian students through its ICETEX program. These opportunities help students from both countries enhance their knowledge and understanding of each other's cultures.   Additionally, both governments are working toward increasing higher education partnerships between universities. Collaborative research and joint projects in fields such as technology, social sciences, and environmental studies have also gained attention, fostering academic mobility and knowledge sharing.   Although relations in education are still developing compared to other areas like trade, both nations have shown a clear interest in deepening their educational ties, leveraging our strategic and diplomatic relations to boost international mobility and academic collaboration. #mobility #quality #education #processes #international #cooperation #collaboration #global #integration #bilateral #relations #colombia #indonesia #article #opinion

🌍✨ I had the honor of being a trainer at the Management of Internationalization Course for Central America, organized by DAAD German Academic Exchange Service - Leibniz Universität Hannover at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. During the course, I conducted a workshop on #InternationalizationoftheCurriculum and provided feedback on the participants' projects. It was inspiring to share this space with talented experts such as Brenda García Portillo and Cristina Eftimie, and to collaborate with internationalization leaders from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Costa Rica. Some highlights from this experience: ✨ I thank DAAD - LUH for prioritizing the generation and transfer of knowledge from and for #LatinAmerica, I believe the contextualization and understanding of the cultural and social nuances adds great value to these training opportunities. ✨ Despite the differences in social and political contexts, we face very similar challenges across the Latin American region. There are still opportunities to make internationalization a more strategic and intentional process in the region.  ✨ Collective efforts to contextualize practices and strategies are key for regional development and integration in the higher education field. We have an opportunity to embrace more #critical approaches to internationalization in the region towards a more #inclusive, #sustainable, and #decolonial internationalization, one that promotes social and cognitive justice and meaningful #engagement with our #territories. ✨ Peer and #collaborativelearning are a fantastic approach to building knowledge in the region. It was fascinating to see participants sharing their own experiences to enrich each other's projects.
