So how does #EquipStarFund Serve those who serve? To begin, I have 35 years in public service in both the military and as a civilian first responder. We have founded #EquipStarFund to be a leading portal for #FirstResponders and #Military members and their #Families to access small group investment normally reserved for the well-connected. These aren’t just clients, they are friends and colleagues from a lifetime of service. We understand what they need because we have experienced it firsthand. Second, our fee structure is heavily backloaded. We don’t realize any significant payment until our customers do and then the distribution schedule heavily favors the client. Third, we are invested beside our clients. We don’t direct clients to projects or developers that we are not personally invested with. We rise and fall together. Fourth, by pooling investments together, our clients get higher preferred returns on private placements than if they invested directly. we can also produce side letters for our larger investors. Fifth, We direct a portion of proceeds to charitable entities that serve responders and military members. #NMM30 #EquipStarFund

This is especially needed in Northern Nevada where visually impaired and blind Veterans have increased barriers to care including 1/3 to 1/2 being rural, nearly non-existent access to public transportation, low to no ADA housing, underpaid and inadequate levels of therapy practitioners, as well as outdated systems of regional healthcare boundaries that privilege large city dwellers. Simply identifying Veterans who are losing function secondary to visual impairment (Pursian Gulf Vets, Iraqi Freedom War Vets, and Operation Enduring Freedom Vets… I’m looking at you and your lack of adequate eye protection during your desert condition Service and TBIs) is a challenge when your Veterans are spread over 20 counties and 110,000 square miles. Further, did you know that there is a HUGE correlation between visual impairment, depression, anxiety, and PTSD? The Covenant is a national responsibility involving government, businesses, local authorities, charities and the public. Since 2011, organisations have been making their pledge to support members of the Armed Forces community who work in their business or access their products and services. The level of support depends on the size and nature of the organisation, but typically includes policies that: encourage reserve service; support employment of veterans and service spouses/partners; and give the Armed Forces community a fair deal on commercial products and services. IDVA is looking for applicants for the Indiana Governor’s Challenge Non-profit Grant Program to prevent suicide among service members, veterans, their families & caregivers. Indiana is part of the Governor’s Challenge program, implementing a statewide suicide prevention initiative for military and civilian communities based on best practices. The focus is on priorities such as identification of SMVF, promoting connectedness, care transitions and lethal means safety & education.
