35 hours of travel, changing three planes (luckily all on time and with luggage) to get back home on the opposite side of the globe … took almost a week to cover up on missing sleep and fight jetlag/fatigue, every day in parts … ofcourse, felt the joy of coming back home, spending time with family, coming to normal pace of life, de-cluttering phone gallery, enjoying weekends, binging Netflix, appreciating home-made food, etc. (it is a long list) … … all of it, just to start missing INTA again!! 🤔 Who else is missing the friendly faces, random chats, instant selfies, adrenaline-rush, hopping-receptions and just the joy of being in close proximity of thousands of our international colleagues? #INTA2024 is over & #INTA2025 is a year away. Especially how I function as a business owner. As such I must ensure that any bad experience or traumatic experience I encounter is dealt with and not just shoved aside and assume everything will just be alright. From day 2: 1. I came to the realization that I am not “really fine” in the area of personal finances and this was mainly because I haven’t been intentional about creating wealth and was taking life as it came. As such I have to be intentional about creating and using a budget, saving, having an investment and also a retirement plan. 2. ⁠Another key takeaway for me was to “Give from my teacup and not my saucer”. And for me it wasn’t really about money but my time. I end up worrying about everyone else and trying to make sure that they are okay. And that any assistance they need from me, I sacrifice my time to get it done for them. And this sometimes affects my work as well as it sometimes also eats into my work time as well as having no personal time. As such I am going to dedicate a time where it will strictly be for me and and alone so that I can adequately keep functioning well. This year, I had the privilege of attending #empower2024 with the incredible team at uDot. The experience was transformative, and after a few days recovering from a post-conference bug, I finally had time to let it all sink in. Running our stall over two packed days, we connected with a range of people—researchers from major tech companies, trailblazers in assistive technology, investors, users, and instructors alike. Every single person who saw our prototypes responded with an energy that reminded us why we’re here. For the first time, I truly felt it: this isn’t just a product; this is a tool for change. We also achieved breakthroughs in our research that I never expected to unfold the way they did. Practically nothing went according to plan—and yet, that’s where the real magic happened. Because sometimes, it’s only in the unexpected moments that real innovation takes shape. What stood out even more this year was seeing how assistive solutions are evolving to finally meet real-world accessibility and affordability needs. I saw everything from at-home hearing tests to bone-conduction glasses, and even tactile-based clothing to help with color coordination—all of it inspiring and, for the first time, genuinely price-competitive. This trip underscored what I’ve come to believe: to change technology’s course, you have to be willing to be just a little audacious. Huge thanks to my team—Lalika Laya K, Anumeha Jain, Vinnarasan Selladurai, Arushi Preet Kaur, and Kaviraj Prithvi—for making #empower2024 unforgettable.
