We are horrified by the news of the devastating gang attack in Haiti. The Haitian people deserve safety, and a democratic government that will safeguard their human rights. We stand in solidarity with those living through this horror, and are proud to support grassroots organizations fighting for peace and security.

Do you dislike what is happening to Haitian immigrants and not just in Ohio but also on the ground in Haiti due to our policies? These speakers and upcoming events September 25th and 26th are part of the solution that you are invited be involved in directly from your own home or in DC, but of course it is primarily and fundamentally our national soul that needs repentance and healing in order to bring about the most long-lasting solutions to our collective societies, if we are to survive! https://lnkd.in/gZDeyvbK

Today, 4th June, is the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression. Established by the United Nations in 1982, this day is dedicated to recognizing the pain and suffering endured by #children who are victims of physical, mental, and emotional abuse. The day was initiated in response to the impact of the #Lebanese Civil War and the 1982 #Israeli invasion of #Lebanon, highlighting the need to protect children in conflict zones and beyond. This observance calls for urgent action to safeguard the #rights and well-being of #children everywhere. It's a reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and nurturing #environment, free from violence and aggression. As an organization, we are committed to raising awareness and advocating for the protection of children. By supporting ethical practices, promoting empowering messages, and collaborating with dedicated organizations, we can make a significant impact. "Protect our children today—they are the future entrepreneurs of tomorrow." #EndChildAbuse #LeadershipForChange #ProtectChildren #InternationalDay #FEF #FashionEntrepreneurFund #FEFEntrepreneur

The list of questions swirling around my head re: Haiti's situation How are we protecting families & children in this crisis? After the crisis? Is this a civil war? With so much human rights abuse and trauma taking place in Haiti what will the recovery capital look like post conflict? How will people heal socially, culturally, physically? If it really takes 3 generations to heal from genocide-like national trauma how will our work include, prepare and accelerate tactics for healing, resiliency and recovery capital for Haiti.

How do local peace mechanisms (LPMs) help to maintain peace and security in communities across the Central African Republic? Complex conflicts can’t be solved through national deals alone – local peace networks need to be supported to address community violence. How many more tragedies must we witness before decisive action is taken to uphold human rights? Two women and two children have tragically lost their lives due to the border violence enforced by EU and Greek authorities as part of their deterrence policies against people on the move. When did it become acceptable for those seeking safety to be fired upon by the Greek Coast Guard? The overwhelming evidence of pushbacks, gathered by civil society in recent years, coupled with the recent conviction of Greek authorities for similar deadly incidents, should be more than enough to end this impunity. Instead of criminalizing boat drivers and holding them responsible for the deaths of passengers, authorities must return to their fundamental duty: rescuing people in distress during Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. We strongly condemn these illegal practices and extend our deepest condolences to the victims' families. We need safe routs. Now.

🌎 Haiti is in crisis. 🔥 With criminal groups controlling 85% of Port-au-Prince, nearly 5,000 killed, and over 700,000 displaced this year alone, the collapse of order is devastating. The Haitian police are overwhelmed, and the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission, underfunded and undermanned, is struggling to respond. 🔴 Human Rights Watch is urging the UN Security Council to act now—by transforming the MSS into a full-fledged UN mission. This would bring the necessary funding, expertise, and mandate to restore law, governance, and access to basic needs. This mission is not just about Haiti; it’s about ensuring peace across the region. 🙏 The time to act is now. #HaitiCrisis #UN #Savethechildren

Peace Please! Although it is maybe too late and surely should have been done much earlier, if Hamas would just unilaterally release all remaining 100 Israeli hostages as the ICJ and the UN requested, it would gain more credibility as a party who wants peace. This would force Israel in the position of a need to reassess its strategy because most of its arguments against Hamas would no longer be valid. This could be a starting point for a permanent truce. There is absolutely no future for any party based on the narrative of its radicals..... everyone who wants to claim territory exclusively for themselves will only find eternal war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. This is the only path to replace fear and hatred by trust and solidarity and to solve the conflict forever. Since Gaza has been carpet bombed, it is and will stay uninhabitable for at least a decade. Chances on a two-state solution have therefore become minimal. The only way out of the conflict is thus to learn to live together as equals and to share the country as one union. Practically, it means in my opinion to go back to the times of Canaan and establish (democratic) autonomous local communities and flexibly spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in two confederations of communities (nations), an Israeli and a Palestinian one, both sharing the country as a union, this is a hybrid outcome with elements of both a two- and a one-state solution. There is space for all cultural identities this way without any minority versus majority issues. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, the Israelis and Palestinians belong to Canaan and nobody outside is waiting for an(other) exodus of any of the two. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo
Today I mourn all the innocent lives taken by Hamas on October 7th, 2023, including innocent children, aging grandparents, and also foreign workers whose only connection to the conflict was their misfortune in choosing a place where they labored to provide an income for their families in distant homelands. Their deaths call out for the urgency of a peace that is just, and that because it is just, is lasting.

Modern slavery may feel far away. But the truth is that it’s a global crisis, with nearly 50 million victims, that affects every country on earth – including yours. 👉 Did you know that the Global Slavery Index estimates there are 122,000 modern slavery victims in the UK? That’s enough people to fill Wembley Stadium and then some. 👉 In the United States, there are thought to be 1,091,000 people living in conditions of modern slavery. That’s nearly 56 times the capacity of Madison Square Garden in New York City. 👉 North Korea is the country believed to have the highest prevalence of modern slavery, with one in 10 people said to be currently in exploitation. That’s 2,696,000 people - the equivalent of the entire population of Jamaica. As Anti-Slavery Day approaches, it is a great time to raise awareness in your community to help combat this awful crime. You can find out how prevalent modern slavery is in your country by visiting the Global Slavery Index: https://lnkd.in/gemNseWz #AntiSlaveryWeek #AntiSlaveryDay #EndModernSlavery
