Myth: I am not at risk for colon cancer because I have no family history. Fact: Everyone is at risk. Having a family history of colorectal cancer can increase someone’s risk, but it does not mean that only people with a family history can get it. About 75% of all new cases of colorectal cancer actually occur in patients who have no known risk factors for the disease and no family history.
