Did you know? 🤔 The term "leading" in typography actually comes from the old-school days of printing, when printers used strips of lead between lines of type to space things out! 🖋️📚 Today, adjusting that line spacing (aka leading) is key to making your printed content pop and stay easy to read. So next time you're working on a design, think about the "lead" you’re giving your text! ✨ #TypographyFun #PrintingFacts #DesignMatters #AmericanPrintAndBindery

We graphic designers use a different colour mode when We create design for print. As you might know if you are connected to design anyhow that we use RGB (red-green-blue) mode for screens and CMYK mode for print. Why? As these are Cyan Magenta Yellow and Key (Black) colours which are generally used in printing. Generally key is mixed with them to get more colours. Below is AI art representing the CMYK colours. Made with Adobe FireFly. Did you know that before? #graphicdesign #graphicdesigner #AdobeFirefly #AIArt

In this Vintage Design Tool post, do you know what these tools are called? This month, I wanted to show a Pantone color fan deck and loupe. It has been years since I have used my Pantone color deck. Right now, I am working on a poster project and I may want to print the design using screen printing, so I am looking at some colors that will work in my design. I also have not used my loupe. A loupe is a simple, small magnifier used to see tiny things more carefully, like dot screens when printing or how the color is setting on the press sheet. Hopefully my loupe will be able to take a field trip on my next press check. #reite_design #graphicdesigner #creativedirection #freelancedesign

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter weekend! 🐰🥚 This Easter, we played with Midjourney to generate a similar style to a risograph printing and here's how we could apply the prompt and reference image. You can try it on your chosen style and scenes too. Here's how we structure our prompt: What: Easter bunnies Where: Surrounded with easter eggs Style: Cartoon - If you have a reference image; The last step is to type the parameter -sref, and you could paste the reference image URL. Our prompt would looks like this: "easter bunnies surrounded with decorated easter eggs cartoon style --sref URL_risograph.png (image URL)" Fun Fact ⭐ The Risograph printing technique originated in Japan in the mid-20th century, developed by the Riso Kagaku Corporation. It was initially used for high-speed photocopying before evolving into a distinct printing method. A technique similar to digital screen printing that combines the principles of screen printing with the convenience of office copiers. It's known for producing vibrant colors and distinctive textures, often described as 'perfect imperfections'. This method is cost-effective and efficient for mass reproducing items like posters, prints, and zines. #generativeai #AIart #midjourney #risograph #graphicdesign #illustration #greetings #happyeaster #easter #bunnies #eastereggs

Last stop, the Photoshooting Session, Digital Editing & Limited Edition Printing ❤️ Giclée (pronounced jee-clay) is an advanced fine art printing process used to create high-quality digital art reproductions. This technique stands out for its "dotless" imaging technology, which contrasts with traditional printing methods that rely on screen-pattern dots. The result is a reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork, widely adopted by art galleries, museums, and private collectors. Creating a museum-quality digital capture of your artwork is an essential first step in achieving the perfect Giclée reproduction. This process produces a high-resolution, preservation-grade file with interpretive lighting, precise alignment, and lasting value. Throwback to the '90s: A Nostalgic Look at Printing Wisdom When your business has been around for over 40 years, you gather quite the treasure trove of artifacts. At The Bespoke Group HQ, we’ve amassed an archive of exhibition-quality Graphic Arts books, annuals, and boxes brimming with work examples, photos, transparencies, and artwork from some truly memorable client projects. One gem from the 1990s? Piconyms, a reference book of pre-press terms created for the UK’s Printing Industry Federation, PICON LIMITED. Authored by the esteemed UK journalist Simon Eccles, it was designed to educate and engage member businesses and young newcomers to the industry — and it was a hit! Bespoke was tasked with designing and producing the book, and we brought it to life with a series of witty and memorable illustrations by a talented artist. These cartoons humorously captured complex processes, making them more accessible and fun for day-to-day use. Fast forward 30 years: While many of these processes have been automated or replaced by technology, the challenge of engaging younger generations with the world of print has only grown. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share some of these timeless illustrations, celebrating their charm and highlighting the creativity that print inspires. Here’s the first one: ‘Trapping’—a pre-press technique that adds overlap between colours, designed to compensate for registration errors in litho printing. Simple, clever, and essential for perfect results. Stay tuned for more! #PrintingHeritage #GraphicArts #PrintDesign #Picon #PRAgency #MarketingAgency
