There's a new energy sheriff in town. For the 6th consecutive month, solar has led new US electrical generating capacity additions, exceeding FERC's prior forecasts, followed by wind and natural gas which have been volleying for second. That makes a six month run from September 2023 that is poised to continue as solar adoption doesn't show any signs of slowing down. The U.S. Energy Information Administration announced that the entire country added 20 gigawatts of solar power, wind power, and battery storage in the first half of 2024. Considering a 1-megawatt solar plant can power 200 California homes, 20 gigawatts – that is to say, 20,000 megawatts – can power an awful lot of homes and businesses! Better yet, the United States is on track to add another 42.6 gigawatts of clean energy in the second half of this year. This movement just keeps growing! And VCE is proud to be part of this significant accomplishment. #CleanEnergy #Innovation #Renewables
