Pitot Tube flow measurement : A pitot tube measures the pressure in a flowing liquid by facing the flow and catching it. When the liquid hits the open end of the tube, it stops moving and its energy changes into pressure. This pressure is higher than the surrounding liquid’s pressure and is called impact pressure. By also measuring the regular pressure (static pressure) and comparing it with the impact pressure, we can figure out how fast the liquid is moving. #ABB #instrumentation #flowmeter #flowvelocity

This is the operational mechanism: 1) A transmitter quantifies a process variable (e.g., flow, pressure) and transmits a 4-20 mA signal. 2) The I/P converter activates, transforming the electrical signal into a 3-15 psi pneumatic signal. 3) The pneumatic valve positioner receives the signal and calibrates the valve for accurate control.
