It's Friyay and I'm feeling particularly chill. I've tackled most of the things on my to-do list for this week. There were a few because I've been in a funk since returning from holidays. I know that gratefulness is something we "should" practice regularly but I don't. Today is different. I want to thank the people who have made my week better. Constant calibration. It's my nine-year wedding anniversary today, and it has made me reflect on what it has taken us to get here: Constant calibration. Being in a relationship, whether it is with your partner in life or business, means juggling three things: 1. Looking inward: How am I? Am I living my values? 2. Looking at each other: Do we really see each other? How can we support each other? 3. Looking at the shared vision: Where are we headed? Are we still on track? It really is quite special when you find someone who aligns with you on all these levels. But it also takes energy, time and work. Like everything that is worthwhile pursuing, you have to nourish it. I don't believe that you can just "let it flow". It requires constant calibration. I am eternally grateful for Stuart Shepherd, my partner in life, and Saskia Roskam 🍪, my partner in business, who are on this journey with me. They never shy away from doing the work to make what we share stronger and get us closer to where we want to be. Bono so beautifully said: "Rather than falling in love, we were climbing up toward it.  We still are." And so are we. #anniverary #relationships #foundation

🎼This one time in band camp… Being a band and colorguard mom for 12 years has shaped my approach in business and as a consultant for CPG brands far beyond my 25 years of industry experience. Here are three big takeaways: 1. Understanding Consumer Interactions: Watching people of all ages engage with various brands and products has given me invaluable insights into consumer behavior and preferences. 2. Translating Trends: Trends in music, dance, and performing arts often reflect broader cultural shifts. Recognizing these trends helps in predicting market movements and creating relevant products. 3. Observing Product Evolution: Even something as simple as water container trends over the years reveals much about consumer priorities and innovation. These experiences have also been deeply rewarding on a personal level. More importantly- A HUGE Congratulations to my daughter, Ella, for making colorguard captain! One thing I learned while hiking 26 miles of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu back in 2016 is this: no matter how strong we think we are, we can’t go far without the support and help of others. My last day at Machu Picchu, my teammates surprised us by making a cake to celebrate. 🎂 And in that moment, #TeamMichelle was born. We shared so much over just four days on that trail—every turn, every step was a reminder of how much stronger we are when we lean on each other. It’s a lesson I carry with me in life and business. For me, it’s not just about saying “thank you” (though, seriously, THANK YOU)—it’s about showing up, staying connected, and continuing to build something meaningful together. Gratitude is reaching out to the people who inspire you. It’s sharing your wins and learning from the lessons. It’s making space to grow, dream, and support each other in this wild journey we call business. Some days are tough. The inbox gets overwhelming. Social media feels like shouting into the void. The to-do list never ends.
