Excited for #IPF2024 #IPFConf next month! The U.S. recently achieved a milestone with the completion of the South Fork Wind project by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and Ørsted. Last month, New York also awarded contracts to two struggling offshore wind projects, signaling a commitment to bolstering the industry amidst challenging economic conditions.This highlights the importance of offshore wind in creating local jobs, driving supply chain investments, and fostering large-scale clean energy generation. Several states will play a pivotal role in the Biden administration's aim to deploy 30GW of capacity by 2030. Despite challenges like high interest rates and supply chain constraints, positive developments abound. The launch of the country's first two utility-scale offshore wind projects signifies significant progress. Wind turbine manufacturers are reporting improved profits, and contract revisions in New England signal a market shift. However, uncertainties persist regarding industry recovery and costs. Long-term certainty hinges on consistent project construction and leveraging existing infrastructure investments.
