7 habits of highly effective politicians Over the years, I happened to meet, network or share stage with politicians in various events and found many talented ones in all parties. Understanding their actions, here is my opinion:- 1. Mind own business An effective politician minds his own business when nothing to gain or prove in a situation. 2. Power struggle A seasoned politician picks and chooses battles well and indulges in certain power struggle while avoiding others. 3. Silence Making enemies in politics is easy. They have plenty anyways and don’t look for more. An effective one stays silent wherever possible to minimize possibility. 4. Friendship A politician makes only loyal friends as he has nothing but huge power often in uncertain installments. An effective one stays true to friends and demands the same. 5. Enemies An effective politician doesn't react immediately to enemies. He jots down in notepad of his mind for he will settle it for nothing less than decimation. 6. Thinker An effective upcoming politician is a hopeful thinker while a seasoned one is a cynical thinker. A thoughtful person makes a good politician. 7. Risk-taking Powerplays are fraught with risks.
