What to do when you have lost interest in work There are times when working doesn’t seem worth it as you get stuck with monotony of things or simply dissatisfied. The surprising thing is it isn’t correlated with success. You will as likely lose interest in high-paying, successful and good environment as with low paying, poor working hours. Here are some things to do:- 1. Take a break A common reason for loss of interest is simply that you are overworked. In a bid to meet the quarterly targets, years went by without a break leading to burnout. Take a break. 2. Travel Travelling broadens perspective as you absorb new experiences and see things through the prism of broader spectrum. It improves well-being which is key to happiness. 3. Mindfulness Mindfully doing the work will make you self-aware of monotony in work and help you break the routine. Mindfulness while working is like meditation to your work. 4. Create Innovating or creating at work place will make creative juices flowing in brain and release feel good chemicals. It may not directly improve work but act as a catalyst for improved performance. 5. Switch There are times you have genuinely lost interest in work. Short term solutions can’t solve long term problems. Switching career may be the only way forward. ABW
