A Pune-based techie killed his Serinor after a remark over performance at work !!! Seriously???....... But, this could happen at your #startup as well, and it's high time to pay attention to the elephant in the room !!! In light of the recent tragic incident, it's imperative for all startups/companies to reflect on their #hiring practices. This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of wrong hiring decisions. In today's hyper-growth era, companies often face challenges finding ideal candidates. As a result, #recruitment teams may feel pressured to expedite the hiring process and overlook crucial steps, such as "assessing the attitude and "aptitude" of candidates. However, this oversight can have dire consequences, not only for the company but also for fellow colleagues. With incidents of #workplace #violence on the rise, it's crucial for companies to revisit their recruitment processes and ensure thorough vetting of candidates. By taking the time to assess not only skills but also cultural fit and temperament, companies can mitigate the risk of such tragic incidents and foster safer and healthier work environments. What's your take on the incident? You all should be held responsible.

Dear all, Sharing an eye-opening experience from my time with a startup in Pune, shedding light on a common industry practice. Initially attracted by positive reviews and a strong marketing presence, I choose them over other offers. However, after three months, despite not being assigned projects, I was pressured to work on outdated open-source templates. Eventually asked to resign, feedback sought appeared inconsequential. With 4.5 years as an SSDE on significant projects, claims of underperformance seemed unjustified given my limited scope. Having shared concerns on Glassdoor, the company had forced me to remove to protect their ratings. With holding my FnF for a month without compensation, this ordeal serves as a cautionary tale. Professionals, be wary of companies relying heavily on marketing tactics. Remember, a brand like Mercedes doesn't need flashy ads to sell cars, unlike others. Note: I will reveal company name soon #StartupCulture #ProfessionalExperience #WorkplaceInsights #startup #opentowork #jobs #softwareEngineering #softwareengineer

Consulting story: Real life decisions are not always a "Go" or "No-Go" Recently, I provided guidance to a junior from my engineering college who faced a career decision. Working in pharma consulting, he received two job offers with nearly identical compensation. Let’s delve into his dilemma: #ecommerce Delivery Startup: This offer was for a Mumbai-based location (he currently resides in Pune). The startup promised a 50% salary increase compared to his current position. Intriguingly, this opportunity would take him out of the pharma industry, providing exposure to a different sector. #Pharma Consulting: The second offer came from a Pune-based company, offering a role very similar to his current one. The compensation was nearly on par with the startup offer, and there were additional onshore opportunities. After an hour-long conversation, I shared the following advice: #Emotionally: I encouraged him to consider the startup (Option 1) since he expressed a desire to explore a new industry. #Rationally and #Logically: I recommended Option 2 (Pharma Consulting) for its continuity and potential for more opportunities. While the startup may seem exciting, it comes with the challenge of adapting to a new culture, a new city, and a different industry—a significant adjustment after several years in the workforce with specific expectations for experienced roles by the new company and that too a startup which has limited tolerance for under-performers. Which option did he choose, any guesses?

Friends, After reading a couple of posts on LinkedIn like Anna's Pune Case, Work Pressure, Biases, Toxic Work Culture, and many more where we always put posts on LinkedIn. So, I have to say only two things:- Don't expect that someone will come and change things. Nobody will come. You have to change yourself because change starts with you. "Company tumhaare baap ki nahi hai" so just give your services for which you have been paid that's it. There is no friend, brother sister. It's just a business. Rest up to you, you can crib things nobody will stop you. Thanks & Regards HearKen (Staffing Solutions)
