What challenges do we face in preserving our natural landscapes? The recent exploration of the Glens of Antrim highlights the breathtaking beauty of Northern Ireland's Causeway Coastal Route. As we witness the stunning vistas and rich history, it's essential to discuss the environmental and cultural preservation efforts that are critical today. These areas not only showcase natural wonders but also tell stories of our heritage. I believe that sustainable tourism can play a vital role in protecting these delicate ecosystems. By valuing and respecting nature, we not only enhance our travel experiences but also ensure that future generations can enjoy the same beauty. What are your thoughts on responsible tourism and its impact on our landscapes? https://lnkd.in/gip9gtya

Shiraz to Shore Concept Plan launches today! 🚴♂️ 🍇 🏄♀️ The Hunter Region is poised to become a premier destination for cycle tourism with the proposed Shiraz to Shore, a 100km cycle trail connecting the picturesque Wine Country of the Hunter Valley to the breathtaking coastal beaches of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. The trail includes the critical connector and much beloved Richmond Vale Rail Trail with its historic brick lined tunnels. Designed not only as a magnet for tourists but also as a sustainable transport link, this trail promises to be a beacon of regional connectivity and natural beauty. The expected benefits from the trail will: ✔ Support over 237,000 users per year in achieving an active lifestyle with health benefits. ✔ Stimulate business growth opportunities and over 200 ongoing jobs for local people. With support from NSW Government, we’ve worked with City of Newcastle, Australia, Cessnock City Council, Singleton Council and Lake Macquarie City Council to develop the preferred alignment for the trail, and financial modelling through a Business Case. We also developed a Hunter Cycle Tourism Strategy to identify actions for the region to take to attract cycle tourists, who stay longer and spend more in region, which means more jobs for local people. How does your business support and protect biodiversity where you operate? Today is International Day For Biological Diversity. Tourism is not just a victim of climate change, it also contributes to the problem, and that includes biodiversity loss. The future of tourism relies on nature flourishing, so it would be shortsighted of Wild Adventures Melbourne (WAM) to operate in a way that delivers extraordinary experiences in Australia's spectacular and iconic nature, yet did nothing to support and protect ecosystems and biodiversity. As a tourism operator, i'm acutely aware that WAM needs to be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem. That has been in our DNA since the very beginning. This is why I created the WAM 4 Project. The WAM 4 Project is dedicated to supporting the long-term conservation and protection of nature, wildlife and culture on the Mornington Peninsula and surrounds so that it can thrive and be enjoyed for generations to come. You can find out more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/guZSc-9M WAM strives to protect, restore and enhance biodiversity in multiple ways including supporting restoration of reefs and kelp forests, planting native trees and other plants, saving energy, cleaning up eliminating and reducing waste, ethical supply chains and more. We will be posting more soon and how WAM is connecting the dots with the impact on nature and direct actions we are taking to cause a ripple effect of positive difference. #biodiversity #internationaldayforbiologicaldiversity #positiveimpacttourism #ecotourism
