Thrilled to witness the incredible initiative in #Batticaloa, where a formidable group of women from Kaviya Sdwc are redefining waste management. As Sri Lanka’s pioneering women-led plastic waste collection network, they exemplify how dedication and innovation can transform challenges into opportunities for environmental stewardship and economic empowerment. In a significant move to enhance their efficiency and reduce environmental impact, these trailblazing women received e-bikes, empowering them to manage waste more effectively, keep our environment clean, and generate sustainable incomes. This transformative network flourishes with the support of USAID Sri Lanka, Gunadamin Elephant House - Beverages, and Viridis Recycling Centre. City Cycle Industries Manufacturing (Pvt.) Ltd. (Lumala), we’re proud to contribute to this mission with our innovative EcoHauler e-bike carts. Designed with sustainability at its core, the EcoHauler embodies our commitment to creating eco-friendly mobility solutions that support not just the environment but also empower communities. Osaki, Japan, Achieves 80% Waste Recycling, Avoids Incineration #SDG12 Source: #UN News  #Osaki, #Japan, with a population of #12000, celebrates a remarkable feat: recycling #80% of its waste, avoiding the need for an incineration plant. Ahead of International Zero Waste Day, Kasumi Fujita, a town councilor, shares the town's journey. Osaki's waste is sorted into #27 categories, with only blue bags going to landfill. Plastics are compressed and sent to recycling factories nationwide, while food waste is composted, enriching local farms.
