I’m really excited to see this important initiative come to life. Pakistan produces approximately 49.6 million tonnes of solid waste annually, with around 9% comprising plastics like single-use bags, packaging, and cutlery. Sadly, 70% of plastic waste is mismanaged, contributing to severe environmental issues, including along our coastline where 65% of waste is plastic. Looking forward to the positive changes this project will bring in tackling plastic pollution, protecting marine life, and promoting the circular economy. 🌍 Excited to share that through Living Indus an agreement has been initiated between @UNOPS Pakistan and @UNEP_IETC, Japan for Integrated Solid Waste Management! This initiative aims to reduce waste, promote recycling, and ensure sustainable disposal. Proud of the #OneUN approach with @UNRCO, @UNOPS, @UNEP and @UNHABITAT, along with support from @SDPI! Together, we’re paving the way for a cleaner, greener future! #LivingIndus #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy Jennifer Ankrom-Khan, Humaira Jahanzeb, Faisal Syed, Shunichi Honda, Faiqa Aziz, Fazli Imran, Zainab Naeem
