I've been a proud member of the Heidelberg International Professional Women’s Forum (HIP) e.V. for a decade. Over the years, I conducted many training sessions for the dynamic women in this group. Something I'm very proud of. I'm still a supporting member even though I can't get to Heidelberg for the meetings anymore. Each of the sessions I delivered was an incredible opportunity to share information, insights, strategies, and expertise to help these women fill gaps in their knowledge and take them one step closer to achieving their goals. In this particular photo, I stood in front of a room full of inspiring HIPWF women and shared a piece of my journey, my struggles, and my successes. But more importantly, I got to listen and learn their stories, too. That's the beauty of these kinds of networking events. What stays with me is the power of women supporting women. She for her. We need he for her, too. And every other, too. This group forum is a breath of fresh air. It's a space where we celebrate each other's achievements, lift each other up, and offer support and encouragement. This is where the magic happens, and can happen for you too, when you find your tribe. And that's why I continue to be passionate about this mission. I've recently launched the Inspiring Women in Audit Podcast, a platform that amplifies women's voices in the audit community, sharing their expertise, their stories, and their insights. Yesterday, I wore so many hats!!! 🎩 And I don’t even look very good in hats. Just a few (and yes—some of them I wore many at the same time!) included: parent hat, daughter hat, wife hat, friend hat, boss hat, host hat, guest hat, creator hat, reviewer hat, expert hat, novice hat, and of course… a regular old winter hat! Whew! Identity crisis? Maybe! There are two hats from yesterday that I can’t stop thinking about this morning. And if you saw me with either of these hats on, please reach out and say hi!!! (and tell me I looked okay???): 1️⃣ Host hat: I led J Sherman Studio's final webinar of 2024!  I welcomed people into our enthusiastic world of design and shared everything from work ethics considerations to practical tips like how many words should go on a line. (Spoiler: fewer than you think!) 2️⃣ Guest hat: I joined an incredible virtual holiday party for women consultants. Huge thanks to Smart Gets Paid for hosting such a powerful, energizing event—it’s a gift and I left inspired by so many smart women in business. Both hats brought me new friends and new energy! And while both were exhilarating and exhausting in their own ways, I’m just so grateful for the push to show up. It’s not always easy (I’m just a smidge introverted), but it’s always worth it. Here’s to ALL the hats. Because life would be boring if we only wore one. If you attended either of these events, please say hi—I’d love to keep the conversation going. What an incredible day at the Society of Professional Women event hosted by the @mainlinechamber My amazing and talented friend Erika Rothenberger, LEED AP, PMP was the keynote speaker, and let me tell you – she delivered! Erika shared so much wisdom about the power of networking and making meaningful connections, something she’s truly a master at. She captivated a room of over 150 women and men, giving us all practical tips on how to be better at not only connecting with others, but also providing value. Here are a few takeaways from Erika’s talk: ✨ WIIFT: What’s In It For Them? Shift the focus from what you can get, to how you can serve others. #FlashBackFriday About a month ago, I attended the Women In Management, Business & Public Service 23rd annual Conference, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. This season naturally prompts me to reflect on the past months and set clear intentions for the future. I was fully engaged in every session. Well, except for the moments I snuck in a few pictures 😂 The experience was profoundly inspiring. Listening to incredible speakers like Prof. Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola Prof. Yemi Osinbajo Osinbajo, Debola Deji - Kurunmi, Dr Laila St.Matthew-Daniel, Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, John Tanimola Obaro, Nnamdi Ibe (FIMC,CMC) , Mary Remmy Njoku, among others, deeply influenced my perspective and vision for the future. I took the opportunity to absorb the wealth of knowledge shared, creating space to reflect and realign my thoughts with these transformative insights. Each session served as a reminder to pause, recalibrate, and ensure that my actions and aspirations align with my core values. Women are not my competition. I really hate the word competition. It sounds so aggressive, doesn't it? Like we are all rivals fighting for the same goal and there is only room for one winner and everyone else is the loser. This whole mentality is so incredibly outdated and frankly, boring AF. The real power lies in collaborating with our fellow female leaders, not competing against them. When women come together and support one another, amazing things happen. We share connections, ideas, and resources. ➡️We build companies. ➡️We create community. ➡️We make money and build wealth for ourselves and our families. ➡️AND we do great things with that money. We lift each other up like the waves of a tsunami. As women, we hold an incredible amount of collective purchasing power and influence. Studies show that women make over 80% of all purchasing decisions, both for ourselves and our households. That's an astounding statistic that proves how vital we are to the success of businesses across every industry. Imagine what we could achieve if we harness that power, not in opposition, but in unity. Women-led companies that embrace a culture of collaboration tend to be more innovative, more profitable, and more fulfilling places to work. So why hasn't everyone adapted this mentality? Maybe it's the lingering effects of the old boys' club mentality. Or the pervasive myth that there's only room for a few at the top. Or perhaps we've simply been socialized to see other women as threats rather than partners. I don't know... But what I DO know is... I'm over it! It's time to change the narrative.
