Consistency is key. When it comes to emergency exit signage, there is still confusion in some quarters about what is correct under current guidance. Exit signage must ensure that escape routes are obvious from any location in a building and guide you to your closest final exit. But what legend format types should be used? Should a ‘progress forward’ arrow point up or down? Liam Greene, Emergency Lighting Product Manager at Thorlux Lighting, provides clarity: “Consistency is vital; exit signage must be uniform and consistent throughout the building or facility. ISO 7010 format signage must be used in new builds, as specified in BS EN 5266-1:2016 guidance. However, the European Signs Directive format is still acceptable in older buildings; likewise, HTM65 format signs are still permitted in NHS hospitals. But signage should never be mixed!” Consistency of signage is essential. This also applies to the arrow direction to indicate ‘straight on’ or ‘progress forward’ signs. “During fire escape planning, it is essential to ensure the escape route arrow directions are correct on all signage,” says Liam. “The correct formatting under BS 5499-4:2014 is arrow up for ‘progress forward’ and ‘arrow down’ if you wish to direct people to go down a level or stairs to your closest final exit.” For more information, Thorlux offers a comprehensive CIBSE LG12 Emergency Lighting CPD – see the website for details: https://buff.ly/46WP5O7 #thorlux #emergencylighting #escaperoute #lighting #emergency #escape #exitsign

The 881 multitronic goes one step further In this post we explore some of the additional features of the 881 multitronic door lock. Non-residential buildings in particular can be subject to very specialised requirements, for example they may need to be fitted with certified emergency exit doors. The multitronic 881 comes with a panic function built in and conforms to EN 179 and EN 1125, the mandatory standards for emergency exit locks and features a fire-resistant design🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ It's even suitable for situations where escape routes conforming to EltVTR or prEN 13637 need to be secured against intruders – so easy escape in an emergency situation and effective burglar resistance are no longer mutually exclusive attributes. ⛔ The lock can also be combined with optional components to alert users both acoustically and visually if the door is unlocked. The system is superbly suited for use in buildings such as children’s nurseries or care homes that are frequented by vulnerable groups, and where staff need to be alerted each time the door is opened to ensure that no one leaves the building unnoticed.🔔 It comes as standard with the option of connecting an electrical swing door opener, with unlocking and opening always taking place in the correct sequence, enabling the door to be easily opened just by pressing a button or approaching the door. Versions with a reduced handle height (850 mm) are also available, so that anyone can reach the handle to open the door. The multitronic 881 really is the perfect all-rounder! #panic #exit #door #multitronic #EN179 #EN1125

Summers are already here and you would want to buy an AC. However, the temperature of an air-conditioned room depends on factors like the AC capacity, room size, location, openings, unit placement, and wall thickness. Our revolutionary High-Volume Air Purifiers are engineered to scale from large spaces to entire buildings. Which size is right for your building? Because not only did we invent something that never existed before, we made it in three accommodating sizes. L - The Vortex 2000 HVP is a multi-use unit capable of up to 2,300 CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) and 2,600 CFM in its integrable configuration that builds into your existing HVAC system. XL - The Stratus HVP is built to handle large open spaces such as auditoriums and gymnasiums. It has a capacity of 4,850 CFM and can reduce viruses and particulate matter down to 0.01 microns. XXL - The Vortex 9000 HVP is the solution for whole building applications such as schools, malls, and more. It features a high-volume fan capable of 9,200 CFM of clean airflow. But in some important ways, they’re all the same. They all offer 50-90% reduction in Outdoor Air for energy conservation, per ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2022 Indoor Air Quality Procedure (IAQP). They also feature Certified 99.99% HEPA Membrane and Advanced Molecular Adsorbent filtration, as well as our Advanced Operating System that integrates with Building Management Systems to schedule and adjust each unit and track filter life.
