Our recent case study showcases how we ensured corrosion-free shipping for the wastewater industry, partnering with a premier supplier to tackle the challenge of preventing rust and corrosion on drive housings and worm gearboxes during overseas transit. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞: Shipping large, ferrous metal drive housings and enclosed worm gearboxes from the Midwest U.S. to Southeast Asia posed a risk of severe corrosion due to prolonged exposure to oceanic atmospheres. These components, made from cast iron and high-carbon steel, required robust protection to ensure they arrived in pristine condition. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Our team implemented a dual approach to corrosion management: • Internal Protection: We utilized ZERUST® Axxanol™ 707C VCI oil additive inside the worm gearboxes. By spraying this additive into the gearbox, we ensured that the powerful VCI (Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors) filled all void spaces, preventing rust and corrosion during shipping and storage. • External Protection: For the drive housings, we chose ZERUST® ICT®510-OPS VCI film. This high-strength shrink film, with 3-year UV stabilizers and proprietary VCI, wrapped the drive housings securely, offering superior protection against corrosion. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬: The first shipment arrived in Southeast Asia without a trace of rust or corrosion on or inside the drive housings and worm gearboxes.
