We are thrilled to share that our AI and Data Engineers: Joanna Gajda, Filip Sokołowski, and Maciej Bryński participated in the largest Data/AI conference in the CEE region, Data Science Summit One point was Maciej Bryński's presentation, "Never Underestimate the Power of a Single Node." In his talk, Maciej delved into an often-overlooked topic in today’s distributed computing era: the power and efficiency of well-optimized single-node solutions. He explored the performance trade-offs between distributed frameworks like Apache Spark and modern single-node tools like DuckDB, Pandas, and Polars. We are proud to have been part of such an inspiring event and look forward to continuing the conversation about innovative approaches in data engineering and AI! 🚀 #DataScienceSummit #DSS24 #DataScience #MachineLearning

Next to all the developments in AI, it’s easy to forget more basic — but no less essential — skills such as being able to make sense of your data in the first place through data visualization. I will give a talk at the upcoming PyData Zurich meetup on Vega-Altair, a simple, friendly, and powerful data visualization library. Would be great to see you there!

Can officially say Data & AI Summit is next month! Two simple things I like about this event and the opportunity it brings our customers: 1) With our summit held June 10-13, your team can head back to the keyboard with fresh ideas and ~half the year left to bring more productivity to data pipelines. If your AI goals seem like they're currently a stretch for 2024, this event comes at great timing to find a way to make those a reality. 2) Being a Lakehouse, our platform is meant to serve data engineers, architects, scientists & analysts. We've made our event one that can serve the whole team as well! Check out the differing session tracks for more. For more reasons why to attend, check this out --> https://lnkd.in/gDF5piRC

📣 Here's a great set of talks shared by Data Engineering and Machine Learning Summit co-host Benjamin Rogojan.
Close to 8 months ago I co-hosted the Data Engineering and Machine Learning Summit(DEML) with with Xinran Waibel. We had over 3000 people sign up and dozens of great speakers. We are planning the second event for October of 2024! But if you happened to miss the last one and want to see some of the great talks, here are 7 of them! 1. WTF is data modeling by Joe Reis 🤓 https://lnkd.in/g3iNx2Hw 2. Optimizing oilfield operations using time-series sensor data by Jessica Iriarte https://lnkd.in/gPBMVcmx 3. MLOps Beyond LLMs by 👩🏻💻 Mikiko B. https://lnkd.in/g3kxvCpA 4. Self-Service Data Engineering through dbt and Snowflake by Julius Remigio https://lnkd.in/g9RxNmaA 5. Designing streaming data pipelines best practices and considerations by Ankit V. https://lnkd.in/gSSMR9UB 6. Machine Learning At League Of Legends by Ian Schweer https://lnkd.in/g5dw74sb 7. Fancy data stack — make your data platform shine by Christophe Blefari https://lnkd.in/g_zmwvdB I also wanted to give a special thanks to the Accelevents team, they really made hosting a virtual conference easy. We look forward to using them again in 2024. P.S. if you're interested in speaking at the next summit, feel free to comment below.

🚀 Thrilled to have been part of the Data + AI Summit 2024! 🌟 This event was an absolute must-attend for data leaders, engineers, scientists, and architects alike. I was especially excited to hear from industry titans like Ali Ghodsi (Databricks CEO), Jensen Huang (NVIDIA CEO), and Fei-Fei Li (Stanford University Professor). Their insights and innovations were game-changing. With over 500 sessions on topics like “AI and the Lakehouse” and “Software 2.0: Shipping LLMs with New Knowledge,” there was so much to dive into. The advancements in technologies like Apache Spark™, Delta Lake, MLflow, PyTorch, and more are set to redefine our field. It was incredible to get a sneak peek at the new features in the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be attending in person next year! Looking forward to meeting everyone face-to-face and building stronger professional relationships. A highlight for me this year was the session on the “Unity Catalog Announcement and AI/BI Gen Project.” The insights shared were truly mind-blowing! 🤯 Can’t wait to continue this journey and see what the future holds for our community! #DataAI2024 #DataScience #AICommunity #DataAISummit #DataAI2024 #ArtificialIntelligence #MachineLearning #BigData #AICommunity #DataAnalytics #TechInnovation #OpenSource #Databricks

The TDWI conference is happening this week. I used to attend this conference annually before COVID. The sessions were great for brushing up on the basics and checking out the newest developments in data, especially in Data Warehousing and Data Lakes. One of the major topics of discussion a few years back was the debate between buying versus building in the Data Warehouse space. Solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, and others heavily influenced the trend towards buying. Most companies were already investing in off-the-shelf solutions across BI, Data Lakes, and Predictive Analytics. However, with the advent of Generative AI, I'm noticing a significant shift back towards in-house development. Building in-house requires fewer specialized skills, and the rise of no-code solutions has made it accessible to non-technical folks. For more technical products, the steep engineering productivity curve often tips the financial scales in favor of in-house development. I believe these trends are likely to accelerate further. Overall, with the advent of AI, in my opinion, it seems like more companies will choose to create their own technology solutions rather than buying them as the industry evolves. #dataanalytics #datawarehouse #datalake
