🌍 Bridging the Gap in the Music Industry: A Call for International Collaboration 🌍 In a recent enlightening discussion with Momentual (formerly Music Cities Events) my partner at Africa Rising Music Conference Namakau Socika delved into the critical challenges that South African artists encounter concerning mobility in the music industry. The conversation highlighted the significant influence that international companies wield and the transformative impact they could achieve by supporting initiatives such as mentorship programs and international internships. At the Africa Rising Music Conference, we are deeply committed to these programs, advocating for more involvement from our global counterparts. The goal is to foster equal opportunities for African executives within the global music ecosystem. This endeavor is not merely about providing opportunities; it's about enriching the industry by introducing diverse perspectives and authentic representations of African talent both in the boardroom and on stage. We believe that this collaboration holds a dual benefit. It not only empowers the recipients of these opportunities but also enhances diversity in the workplace, leading to a more inclusive and representative music industry worldwide. Let's unite to create a lasting impact and ensure global representation matches the diversity of music industry audiences. We invite international partners to join us in paving the way for a truly inclusive future. #AfricaToTheWorld #DiversityInMusic #AfricaRisingMusicConference #InternationalCollaboration #ArtistMobility #MusicExecutives #GlobalMusic

🌟 Highlighting “Pilot Project for Audience Diversification in Contemporary Jazz”, organised by Assejazz! This project consists of the creation of a European programme for the exchange of jazz proposals through collaboration with 3 entities similar to Assejazz, dedicated to the dissemination and internationalisation of this musical genre! Key aspects of the project include: 🤝 Collaboration and Exchange: the 3 entities will visit Assejazz to share practices and tools, focusing on addressing challenges between jazz venues and new audience profiles. 🎤 Meetings/concerts: 12 in total (4 for each entity), held over 12 months, to inspire and develop tools to reflect on issues such as the reduction of the environmental impact of venues and the interaction with audiences that are not very integrated among current audiences (young people, women and citizens not professionally linked to musical disciplines) and practical tools to include audiences in the reflection and transformation of music venues. 👉 Find more about the project in the link: https://lnkd.in/dWNUiimv #LIVEMX #beyondmusic #livemusicsector #creativeeuropeprogramme #musicmoveseurope #livemxprojectshowcase

On Saturday, I was a speaker on a webinar organized and hosted by The Creative's Mastery Forum I was delighted to clearly state the importance of effective royalty collection/data system in the African Music Industry. Based on International Federation on Phonographic Industry Global Music Report (IFPI), sub saharan Africa was the fastest growing region for recorded music revenue in 2022 (with a 30% growth). This is positive but I believe this was subject to an inadequate data available to the organization from our region; there is a need for more data system in Africa (putting into consideration the fact that 2022 is the first time IFPI had made a systematic report about our market). For publishing as a music right, we still have a lot to do too. According to CISAC review 2022, Africa recorded the lowest revenue and a slow growth of 10.4% compared to Latin America’s +64.9% and Asia-Pacific’s +16.5%. In conclusion, there are a lot of positives from our market but we still have along way to go towards meeting the objective: to protect creatives and ensure they derive adequate compensation for the use of their music rights. #entertainment #entertainmentlaw #music #musiclaw #afrobeats #nigeria #UBANIOBINNA

I was invited to the now ongoing #MusicImbizo music conference in Durban, South Africa. While I couldn't make it :( due to the expensive plane ticket , earlier on Sphe Mbhele had asked me to prepare notes on the theme 'Brand building and Marketing; Creating a distinctive Identity.' Here are some of the ideas I would have shared on the topic: Standing out is a complex yet vital element for a creative brand. Embracing authenticity and creative storytelling are crucial tools for achieving this goal. A strong music brand is built on defining a unique sound, style, and artistic vision. This differentiation is key to success in the competitive music industry. Examples of Unique African Artists' stories I was excited to share; Burna Boy: Known for his distinct style and ability to blend genres with social commentary, making him a global sensation, Aliddeki Brian : A promising Ugandan musician with a blend of Afro-fusion folk music and energetic live performances. Miriam Makeba: A Storyteller Extraordinaire who was also known for her civil rights activism, and Nasty C: An engaging South African music artist on social media, who easily gives fans a glimpse into his personal life. These artists to me represent the power of defining ones unique sound, style, and artistic vision hence setting one apart and paving the way for a successful music career. #BrandBuilding #MusicMarketing #DistinctiveIdentity #MusicIndustry #MusicImbizoConference.
