As an Australia-based CMMC Registered Practitioner Organization (RPO), PAC was pleased to provide comments on the US Defense Department's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (#CMMC) framework, which is on track to go into effect in early 2025.   We focused our comments on opportunities to leverage Australian #cybersecurity standards and security-cleared Australian assessors in order to avoid hindering global maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations or strategic initiatives like #AUKUS and the #QUAD.   While compliance will be a 12-18 month uplift if starting from zero, some Australian Defence Industrial Security Program (#DISP) members may already meet the #NIST SP 800-171 rev 2 standards for the protection of controlled unclassified information (CUI).    If you have active DoD contracts or anticipate an award, reach out to our cyber team at opportunities@pacaerocon.com.au to discuss your US and Australian cybersecurity requirements.   #govcon #defenceindustry #defence #PacificAerospaceConsulting 

Thank you Brian D. McCarthy for providing the enclosed. The DoD issued a deviation to the current DFARS 252.204-7012 updating NIST compliance to NIST SP 800-171 R2. It is unclear how many defense contractors are required to comply with DFAR 252.204-7012 today. Or how the DoD plans to provide oversight of compliance or the national or international DIB? What is clear is the DFARS is another cyber regulation to add to the growing list of cyber regulations effecting the private sector.
