I am excited to see what application processes and constraints the team at Crown Commercial put in place to prevent some of the utterly useless listings that have appeared over the past few years. Coming back to support GCloud for those changes after many years is exciting but it is also deeply depressing to see how bad some of the content has become. Its a little like catching up with your favourite nephew after a few years only to see he has seriously let himself go and has wasted the intervening period. despite the success of GCloud, it could be so much more if suppliers made a proper effort. If you insist on self listing please make sure you cover the crucial factors any competent buyer will expect to see in your service definition documents and associated policies and pricing. If only we could show suppliers the back end to evidence that their listings never appear, because they are so badly written and frankly, bear no relation to the level of detail required to undertake a legal procurement exercise. I suggest introducing a rule where if you do not transact within 12 months, you skip an edition. That might stop the lazy, self-applicants with zero understanding of what they are doing and who are adding nothing to the supply chain as a result. worse still, they then blame the buyers or Crown Commercial Services. Do a proper job or step to the side and leave it to those who really love GCloud for all its strengths and abilities to drive effective and speedy sales across the marketplace. Tomorrow, Valentine's Day we will give away some knowledge to demonstrate our love for GCloud being done well and to ensure anyone self-listing does a half-decent job, even without expert support.
