👩🌾 Unpaid labor is a heavy burden for many women, especially in agriculture. In Sub-Saharan Africa, women make up over 50% of the agricultural workforce. They juggle farm work, household duties, and childcare. Their farms are often smaller and less productive, and they have less access to essential resources. 🚜 Organizations like the Farm to Market Alliance, the Grameen Foundation and #TeamBayer are stepping in to help close the gender gap, boosting productivity and reducing food insecurity. #Inclusivefinance is absolutely essential for climate adaptation and resilience. The story of Dharmishtaben shows the extreme vulnerability of low income people to #climate change, as a single catastrophic event can wipeout income and investment alike. Her example also shows that access to inclusive financial services, including savings and emergency credit, can provide a lifeline in the face of climate shocks. CGAP’s global research has, however, underlined the near-total scarcity of inclusive financial services designed to address the climate needs of low income people. As people living in poverty will unavoidably suffer increasing climate-related shocks, filling in this gap is a critical priority to support the grassroot climate adaptation needs of poor people. Therefore, at CGAP we believe that inclusive finance must be an integral part of the global climate response!

📊 Despite their leadership and impact in addressing environmental crises, women, gender-diverse groups, and Indigenous peoples remain underrepresented and underfunded. Without their active participation, any solution to the climate crises and current emergencies will fall short. #SeedsForHarvest, our latest report from Prospera International Network of Women's Funds, the Global Greengrants Fund, the Human Rights Funders Network (HRFN), and the Global Alliance For Green And Gender Action (GAGGA), provides a powerful understanding of the state of funding for gender, climate, and environmental justice work while underscores the imperative to galvanize political will and financial commitment to movements in the Global South and East. Through data analysis, case studies, and identifying trends and opportunities, our new publication signposts the progress made by those critical to the landscape. Most importantly, it emphasizes the enabling environment and heightened potential for the feminist philanthropic ecosystem to strengthen and collaborate at the intersection of gender, climate, and the environment, develop common narratives, and advance joint political framings. While direct funding is a critical aspect, so is bringing people together to generate greater opportunities for strategizing and building a collective analysis that provides a multiplicity of approaches to the challenges that climate emergencies hold for us all. 👉 Explore the Key Findings of Seeds for Harvest below or download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/dt3XfEXF
